There is nothing wrong with being disappointed with losses or being happy with wins at this point. But do you remember the difference between winning 83 games in 2009 versus 75 in 2010 or 71 in 2011? At the end of the year it was just yet another year that this team wasn't in the postseason.
That said beat the Cardinals because I can never get enough of that.

I think tempering expectations given the situation of the franchise at the takeover of the new regime and presently is appropriate, and how one responds to this situation is up to them. What gets tiring is the fact that people want to bury their heads about progress that has been made both at the major league level and beneath the surface in the minor leagues just because this team probably loses around 90 games this year, as though that is some unheard of result in Cubs history.

The old dog -- the 23-year-old shortstop. Yeah, let's trade him right now. I don't care what we get for him. Who cares that he signed an extremely team friendly deal for the next trillion years. Let's trade him right now. Do you think we'd be able to land RA Dickey if we begged and pleaded enough? He did win a Cy Young award last year, after all. Who cares that he's pushing 40. and in two years we'll complain about how little we got for him and the Cubs didn't try to maximize his out put and he was just traded b/c he wasn't performing at the time and the management was trying to rid themselves from all things Hendry.

Yup. It's funny to think about those Madison Bumgarner for Castro trade talks that took a little life at the 2011 deadline. Unless a team offered me a juicy package of top-tier prospects and a major league-ready shortstop to replace him, I wouldn't even answer the call. Let it go to voicemail.

He has changed his stance twice in the past two years and isnt being as aggressive. His timing is all off. Hence, why you see him miss so many fastballs. I dont know who told him to do it, but he needs to fix it.
