Exactly I just would prefer the weakest hitter getting the fewest plate appearances.

So you prefer the Pitcher to get more AB then Campana :angryfinger:
I think there is an argument that Samardzija and Travis Wood are better hitters :troll:

Seriously though the reason you bat him 9th as opposed to 8th is because that he would get to act as a second leadoff hitter and use his speed more than in the eighth spot. The reason you don't bat him first is because he is the weakest hitter in the lineup and the leadoff hitter gets the most plate appearances.

Whats your version of weak? over .350 OBP? Cause thats what he at. yes he dont have SLUG% but who gives a shit. His singles/walks turn into double and triples. You guys need to realize only 1 stat matters for Campana and thats OBP. his OPS and slug% dont mean shit with his speed

His OBP is .336 now. Since May 14 when his OBP was at .391 he has been hitting .209/.261/.209. He isn't getting on base.

I saw .350 yesterday on the game i thought. Still .336 better then most of Cubs hitter lmao. Also during that time he hasnt been playing everday. He was getting spot starts here and there. Lets see how he does with extended playing time

No one is saying that Joe Mather is the answer, but being better than Joe Mather is hardly a ringing endorsement for being a starting position player.

agreed lol

Still on the roster who should be playing over him? Rather be losing with 25 y/o like Campana then 32 y/o journeyman

The 32 year old journeyman has been one of the best hitters on the team, and playing him does a couple of things for the team. Right now, no one should be playing over Campana, but he is a placeholder until real baseball players get on the roster.

Everyone is a placeholder on that team besides Castro and Shark.

Does he start over Clevenger to try and get trade value up?

I think they give him between now and August 31st as the main catcher with Clevenger getting 20% of the starts or so. If they can't trade him and he sucks, he goes into a platoon with Clevenger and they non-tender him this offseason.

Indeed though I am starting to think that
Barney could be more useful than I originally thought.

Yes. Yes he does.

Barney having 2 good weeks. Lets see how the final numbers say. I bet there around what he had last year. I still think he a really good utility IF backing up SS and 2B

But those two good weeks have resulted in him getting his average and OBP back to where he was last season. That isn't what makes me think he could be a useful starter. He has shown a lot more power with nearly double of last season. Remember he was a Camp Buss participant last year and along with Campana put on some muscle in the offseason. If he puts up the same average and OBP with a bit more slugging combined with his glove could be a useful starter. He is never going to be an elite player or even above average, but a guy that is solid offensively with a plus glove can be a useful player. Whether he can maintain this level of power or not is the question.

Saw a tweet today where he was like 6th in WAR in MLB at 2.5. If that dont show how bad WAR is then i dont know what will lol
