Its not of matter of if anymore. Baez will be up but probably not until after the Detroit Series.

He had 4 k night three days ago. That is the only blemish on his record the past month.

He went 2 for 4 with a k and a 2 run homer run. Here is an article with a vine of the home run.

Its hard to see, but it hit the lights of the light tower and bounced back onto the field.

If Baez comes up and pushes Bryant to LF, I hope Castro is the one to move to 3rd. That helps the D.

I was being (somewhat) facetious in the other thread suggesting Castro sit. But if Baez and Russell are on the team and Castro plays SS, something is seriously wrong.

You just don't do that with a veteran and Joe Maddon is certainly not a guy to do that. It's one thing for Castro to get a rest it's another to be moved off his position for a rookie. If that's the plan you trade him.

Trainer appears to be looking at his hand. Iowa manager Marty Pevey out there, too. #Cubs #PCL #MiLB

Baez swipes 2B and goes down in pain. Looks like he's in a lot of pain. #Cubs #PCL #MiLB

Yeah, that's terrible luck for Baez...likely a day before being called up

Any chance Schwarber DH's in Detroit?

Sounds like he will be ready by the trade deadline at that point. It almost makes sense to promote Alcantara for the Det series.

How's Alcantara doing in AAA? I really want to see him succeed.

I'm personally not as convinced as some that Baez was "the guy" to be called up. Regardless, I'm not sure it's that big of a deal for the Cubs. Obviously for Baez it sucks but if you need to bring a guy up, Alcantara is hitting .320/.396/.515 with 4 HRs 8 SB and 11.6%/22.3% bb/k rates over the past 28 days. That's essentially as good as Baez has been on the year and perhaps better given his better bb/k rates. One would think he is the most likely candidate now given they have already used his option year.

Good to hear that. It shouldn't take much to take Wada's rotation spot. They don't trust him as it is before his last game

Mendy to DH?

No they are starting Montero at DH game 1. Waste to use him. Too short of time going on right now with the DH in play. Think 3 at home vs Cle then 3 there.

I'm seeing lake used to be honest. Denirfia has been really good when healthy and should get the full time gig. He has earned it

Anyone know anything about Chesny Young. He is at A+ leading the system in hits and BA. Not really close at that.

Happ and the Cubs have agreed to a $3 million signing bonus -- just under the $3,351,000 slotted for his spot as the No. 9 overall pick.
The Cubs have not confirmed the deal, which is pending a physical.
