I understand, but the question remains if his body will let him perform. his mechanics may change due to the injury.

That's what we have to find out.:)

6 teams in the mix for Cliff Lee. Cubs could be one of them via MLBTR.

LOL, ya right. But I don't think anyone would be mad about that happening, it just won't.

I will be pissed off if we get Cliff Lee. That would be stupid on so many levels.

i have stated this before to the sox fans about Cliff Lee. A team like the cubs/sox etc, a signing of him could be a disaster. Financially the cubs cannot afford to make such a huge risk like this, when the owner of the team is pan handling for money. The money and the length are just too much for the cubs, and it has failure written all over it.....sure he is great, but it is too high risk to do for teams like the cubs/sox etc.

It's not just that though. Although, that has a lot to do with it.

The Cubs pitching was not that bad last year. He does not solve either problem of offensive production at 1B or the defense. Sure, you can replace Silva with Lee. But, over the course of a full season, that's only going to get us another 2 or 3 wins (WAR). That's 20 million for 2 or 3 wins. That's awful value. Now, we could spend that same 20 million on LaRoche, Webb, and Wood. Which is going to net the team more wins? That's right, LaRoche, Webb, and Wood.

really? doesnt matter at this point, he hasnt pitched in 1,5 years and is coming off of shoulder surgery, his mechanics may be different, he may comeback better, he may comeback worse.....throw stats and cy youngs out the window with this move, no one will know until after he is pitching for a while.

thats a guessing game at this point.

this is a PR move 100%

I wonder if that will mean no Kerry Wood then. Not sure I would like that then. Although, Webb is one of my favorite non-Cubs.

Webb has a career 3.50, with only one season above 4. He's basically a God when healthy.
