The Cubs are the closest he'll get to his home in Kentucky

Well, unless the Sox or Cardinals were to go after him, but they have no reason too so I doubt that.

So that is a good sign for the Cubs.

Garland also lives in Cali. Therefore he has stayed there with the Padres/Dodgers.

I have no idea what that has to do with having a sense of humor.

Anyway, Rosenthal says that the interest is mutual between the Cubs and Webb.

That would be a no to the sense of humor...

There was no humor to sense.

But I must admit that your Kentucky comment was rather humorous.

Maybe the Cubs should back off before they find themselves unable to sign anybody else.

What good is Webb going to do for this team except take up payroll? We aren't winning this year anyway. However, he'd be dumb to sign with Colorado and try to revive his career at Coors.

Pleasing the fans is a reason to add another person to the rotation to block Cashner from starting or Archer from making the MLB as a starter?

If I was Ricketts I'd send out this message: F*** the fans. Let's just develop young talent.

Well, you aren't Ricketts. Ricketts is a business man, he wants to make money. Webb is going to equal money. It's a PR move. By saying **** the fans, how is he going to make money? His family threw down a lot on this team, they need to get their money back.

But you also have merchandise, vendors, parking, etc. They need 40 K people there, especially with the financial situation the family is in.

that is easily going to equate into a profit..

they could probably even go down closer to 20k on average and still drive a profit.

It's not going to be enough when the family put all its money into the team, is trying to remodel Wrigley, and is trying to build the triangle building. They need a lot of money.
