Perhaps the Cubs know something you don't.
I was just being a sarcastic asshole.

I dont get why they are going after yet another veteran pitcher.I would take a chance on webb but that is it.Vasquez already signed with florida so he is off the market. I would much rather see them go after a young starter like jorge dela rosa or zack grienke.I guess jermey bonderman would not be a bad option if he is healty. I also would like to see guys like chris archer who i think is the next cubs ace, casey coleman, jay jackson get a shot at the rotation.
Forget Jay Jackson. I want Cashner to be in the rotation. If we sign Wood then Cashner would likely be made an SP rather than a Long or Middle Reliever with the SetUp role being shared by Wood and Marshall.
I think if Webb proves to be decent they trade him mid-season with a rotation of Z, Dempst, Cash, Archer, and Coleman.
Bullpen or Trade CO.
You do not put Wells and Gorzo into the pen or trade them in favor of 2 rookies and Casey Coleman. Maybe Gorzo, but not when Wells is as close to free as it gets.

you wont win a World Series with Wells and Gorzo in the rotation. Might as well give the so called "prospects" MLB experience. 2011 should be beta testing.
There's 1 rookie and Coleman on that list. And yes I would. You want Archer stuck in the minors I see?
Cashner has never started a game in the bigs, so I considered him a rookie. No, I don't want to see Archer in the minors, but I also don't want to rush him when we have pitchers who are doing a fine job. Still, Casey Coleman! You do not have him over Wells. No chance.

I sure would.
I'm fine with giving possibly Gorzo's slot to Archer, but for the love of God, you do not give Wells' spot to Coleman. Wells is a solid 3, Coleman's ceiling is about a 4.
Let's not start debating Randy Wells again, please. Let's just forget this.
It's a good debate. Don't be a pussy. Wells is a solid 3 win pitcher. Coleman needs to be in the BP.
So Wells is a solid 3 pitcher with a 3.93 FIP. So Coleman and his 4.24 FIP are so bad that they need to be in the bullpen?
The difference isn't that big, definitely not SOLID #3 to Middle Reliever difference. Only using FIP because that's what you use.
 really? god dammit! Randy Wells talk again?
