I wonder how much better things could be here if we all didn't waste time on brett's nonsense...

It's like half your posts...if you didn't feel the need to constantly attack/downgrade me you'd have nothing to talk about....actually you don't now.

I don't think he is attacking you. OTOH your posts make him go berserk.

Yeah, it's more like I'm attacking everyone else for falling prey to his junk "baseball thoughts" which are hopefully (for brett's sake) intended to waste everyone's time. :)

I would really love to stop having to urge people to ignore him but I guess I'll only be able to when it's no longer issue... one can dream.

TORONTO -- Cubs prospect Kris Bryant has been named the Minor League Player Of The Year by Baseball America.

Bryant, ranked as the No. 3 prospect in the game and the Cubs' No.1 prospect by MLB.com, hit .295/.418/.619 in 70 games for Triple-A Iowa this season. He was .355/.458/.702 in 68 games with Double-A Tennessee. The 22-year-old third baseman hit a total of 43 homers and 110 RBIs between the two levels.
Cubs manager Rick Renteria said the attention Bryant has been receiving will only intensify as times goes on.
"It's well-deserved," Renteria said ahead of the Cubs' game against the Blue Jays at Rogers Centre on Tuesday. "The young man had a great season. He swung the bat well, hit a lot of homers. He did a really nice job for himself, and I think everyone took notice."
Bryant, the 2013 Golden Spikes Award winner at the University of San Diego, was selected with the second overall pick in the '13 First-Year Player Draft by the Cubs. Prior to that, he was taken by the Blue Jays in the 18th round of the 2010 Draft out of Bonanza High School, but didn't sign.

How many hitters in minors have a future 70 hit tool, that being said is jp crawford one?3

Klaw (2:13 PM)

I wouldn't put that on many prospects. Addison Russell would be one. Crawford ... I'd feel more comfortable at 60 or even 65. 70 is pretty rare..

.

Dave (Detroit)

Would you rather have Baez or Russell long term?

Klaw (2:22 PM)

Russell.

Grant (Toronto)

Saw Soler and Baez play this week, easy to see why the accolades are so high. Soler looks really good, but Baez's swing looked really long, any concerns or is this just a young hitter learning at the big league level?

Klaw (2:31 PM)

It's not long so much as it's fast - you may have been disoriented by the boom created when he broke the sound barrier. He doesn't adjust at all to pitch/location/situation, and that will have to improve.

Rick (Oakland)

Jen-Ho Tseng had a good season at Kane County. How do you project his future?

Klaw (2:38 PM)

Command/control better than expected. Nothing plus and no plane/life on the fastball, both concerns. Also, I believe every pitcher signed from Taiwan for $400K or more has eventually needed Tommy John surgery or had a major shoulder injury.

This comment is from a chat on fangraphs from their new prospect guy.

Comment From Andrew
What is your take on Kris Bryant’s defense at 3rd? Keep hearing how suspect it is but he won a best defensive 3rd baseman award

Kiley McDaniel: You can ignore minor league defensive awards from any source. He’s been fine but still looks fringy at best, he’s long-limbed and a little awkward/slow on certain plays. He’s a RF down the line, but could play 3B for a bit if you have no one.

Thought it was worth while to post considering we've not heard much about Bryant's defense of late.

So new guy sees him as RF. Well then where to put Soler. The analysis seems a little strange considering.

Presumably you play one of them in LF. It might be over kill but having two corner OFs with strong arms isn't a "bad" thing. Also, I don't really think he's looking at it from roster creation standpoint. He's solely looking at Bryant the player not Bryant the player within the fit of the cubs.
