When he has 172 games in the season left in 2015. That makes 2015 not count towards service time.

Only way this is avoided: Bryant inks a deal like Jon Singleton did.

TUESDAY: Passan has the year-to-year breakdown of Singleton’s contract (Twitter link). He will earn $1.5MM this season and $2MM per year from 2015-18. He notes that each of the second options have a $250K buyout as well.

If either Bryant or Baez sign a deal like that than I expect a early call up. If it goes until Day 172 (what ever day that is. Think here are 185 days in the Baseball season so 2 weeks in aprox. Then they are shooting for a free year.

Rizzo stuck until June due to him having service time acquired with the Pads. He stayed in Iowa until that was paid off and that year did not count towards his service time.

Even though he did end up signing a deal I'll bet Theo treats Bryant and Baez the same.

IMO this year is lost anyways. I would rather have Bryant and Baez on the team around Apr 15.

Thing about Bryant is they have been pounding him outside sense his call up.

Over all:

18 AB. 4 Hits all HR's. 2 BB. 8 SO's.
he has some room for growth. Same with Baez. No need to rush them.

Seriously winning organizations like the Cardinals play these games. Right now Bryant clearly has things to work on as evidenced by the weekend in Iowa, but even if he didn't issues of control are important for all teams.

You can have more than one key. How do you get more good play? You keep the good PLAYers you have, by controlling them.
