It most certainly is wasting 8 million dollars. Spending 8 million dollars on nothing is wasting 8 million dollars.

If we had a taker, we would also at least have gotten some performance out of Silva.

Cashner will still get his IP, but we might as well try to save some money. Since when can you measure how much pressure a pitcher is under in certain situations?

You can't succeed if you don't try. You can't get anything out of Silva if you don't give him a chance to prove himself.

They DID give him a chance. He even admitted they game him several chances. His chances came in the spring.

Cashner was ready last season, the Cubs saw no reason to send him down. He earned his spot on the club, so he gets his spot on the club.

I just said that it isn't something we HAVE to worry about. Just saying that the Cubs know their financial situation and implications of releasing him and they knew they could handle it and it wasn't a big deal, that's all.
