Well all those good feelings from the Milwaukee series are completely gone for me. I really didn't think this team was that bad, but I can't find any justifible reason for this team getting any better. We are the anti-Cardinals where anytime we start to get a player going another falls flat on their face.

That said a lot of the guys on this team I wouldn't mind having on this team, but they are currently being asked to do roles that they can't do. We need an everyday 2B desperately, and Darwin Barney coming back isn't going to fix that. I am just at a loss really.

I think we are going to be disappointed on that front because the guys we want traded aren't probably going because of contract situations (NTC, guaranteed years left, options becoming guaranteed if traded, etc.) and the guys that could be traded are guys that ought to be kept. I think Pena and Fukudome will get traded and that is it. If I had to guess now I would say Lopez gets released when Woody comes back, and everyone else plays out their contract.

I think Pena and Fukudome are the most likely Cubs gone. Everyone else probably stays around unless the Cubs are in salary-dump mode.

I'm sure the Cubs could find people willing to take Sean Marshall, Starlin Castro, Carlos Marmol, Geovany Soto, and a few others, but why would we want them. And the flipside why would someone want to pay Aramis Ramirez 14 million next year or Alfonso Soriano 18 million for the next 3 years. Again we all know the situation, and as satisifying as it would be to completely blow up this team. It won't happen because the only guys that would be going are the guys that you are capable of building a real team around.
