The Marlins are begging teams to take Carlos Lee off their hands, Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports (on Twitter).
Trololol.
Trololol.
Yeah I saw that earlier Rice and I think that makes it more impressive to get a fringe 100 prospect at the last second for Dempster.
FYI, re: the qualifying offer...

I think that's probably why they were going to trade Dempster no matter what. There's no way he declines the money once it gets past the $13MM mark.
Cubs are apparently looking into recently DFA'd Derek Lowe. I am guessing the odds of Brooks Raley or Chris Rusin getting a looksy this year are slim after all.
I don't buy it, goes against Theo's plan. Why would they be interested in that old fart anyway?
Because they have zero faith in anyone else currently in the system beyond Garza, Shark, and Wood to take the ball every fifth day. Wins don't matter, but not destroying the arms in the bullpen is a need.
If he did come and showed anything, I wouldn't be shocked if he signed a real team friendly short term deal for next year. This is probably the MO of the FO for this coming offseason with more DeJesus and Maholm type signings.Innings eater. Got it.

Thanks for the analysis Dabs, always can rely on you and Rice for reliable Cubs interpretation. You're a teacher right?
Yeah I teach high school history.
Eh not really comfortable giving that out since the faculty is relative small where I work.I'm going to the U of Minnesota to major in history, hope to do the same, what high school are you at?
