Enemy territory...
As for the off the field issues, all reports I read say he's not at all a clubhouse cancer and that people like him. And the thing with Rizzo was years ago. I can't imagine either held a grudge. Shit, we're men. We can be pissed off and ready to kill each other one minute and buying each other beers the next.

I don't really give a shit about the domestic violence thing. Yes, yes, abusing someone in any way is morally and legally wrong and I have no use for people who do. But he's a freakin' baseball player, and I don't need him to be a role model. And if you need a baseball player to be a role model for your kid, you're doing it wrong.

I'm wondering how our guys are gonna catch him. I would like to see them pair him up with Contrares to catch him consistently. Makes sense that either Ross or Montero would be lifted for a pinch hitter by the time he gets in the game. David Ross has been having trouble with Lesters fastball, not turning his glove over fast enough as it tails into the righty. That way if Willson has a hard time, they can blame inexperience. I would also think it would help if Chapman talked in his native tongue. All the years in the league and he still uses a translator.

The playoffs are a crap shoot. Even after everything and even if they make more moves everyone loves, there's probably still only a ~25% chance they will win the WS this year. That means there is a 75% chance that they will not...

The only way to improve your chances is to make the playoffs as many times as possible and then get lucky. Theo knows this (and preaches it) which makes me question this move a bit. It feels a bit too much like "win now" mode vs. "win consistently" mode for Theo.

But what the hell, it'll be fun watching Chapman pitch for hopefully 3 months at least...

I hear what you're saying. But if they sign Chapman to an extension, then that makes the deal both "win now" and "win consistently."

Fangraphs had them at 17.3% chance of winning the WS before the trade and 18.6% after. The next closest is Washington at 12.2%.

Darn. I'm having buyers response now about giving up Torres. Chapman fills a huge need, obviously. We really, really need him. But what we need equally as bad is:

1) Batters who can hit with RISP.

2) An #1 ACE.

I'm worried the addition of Chapman won't help us manufacture key hits/runs in critical moments of games. And I'm also worried the addition of Chapman won't bring back the Arrieta of old back.

You are already dealing with two aces, Jake down to #2. You cannot kick a lester or Arrieta down to a three and not expect it to play with their confidence. We have to see if Rondon keeps his confidence as it is now, Montgomery has not been the answer.

For those who say Chapman a clubhouse cancer..

Just heard his Yankees teammates didn't want him to go and said he was a great teammate...

For what it worth cause I know how ppl feel about Dusty..
But after being Chapman manager for 4yrs, he wanted to get Chapman to Nats.. So, he didn't think Chapman was a bad clubhouse guy..

You guys don't know whether or not he's clubhouse cancer and even insinuating that without knowing anything about the guy shows how people in this country rush to judge anyone that's making $11M a year and beating his wife which is really fucking illegal. And the only reason the cops even came to his house was because he fired a gun 8 times into the ground. A dumbass maybe but he's probably a very nice guy. Anybody who grew up dirt poor in Cuba would tend to be a nice guy I would think.

Dude Im telling you were getting Bruce from Cincinnati or Ryan Braun from Milwaukee who I would much rather have. The guy has hit like .369 at Wrigley this year. He's a beast and our lineup is going to be indestructible with either one of them.

I'd be surprise if they got Braun...

He owed 20 mil per til 2020 then 15 mil 2021

Getting him would also mean Heyward has to play CF everyday, with Schwarber in LF

Bruce is making $12.5 mil this year. And as mentioned Braun has at least $86 mil left on his deal. The popular name being talked about is Reddick but I personally prefer Charlie Blackmon. Seth Smith might also be an option.

Big fan of Blackmon, and Dexter is not going to be 100% the rest of the year. He could not beat a double play on a slow roller he hit, but it probably takes the opt out off the table and you just replaced another kid. Give all the credit to Heywards defense, well Almora is probably the best we have.

What would it take to acquire Blackmon?

I think you could acquire him for minor league pieces. Depends on what the Rockies would want from a need perspective. I think Happ would not be needed to move on.

Im telling you they're going to get either Braun or Bruce and pick up their contracts or trade them for prospects in the winter. Its almost a done deal and its going to be Soler for either one and probably Happ or another AAA guy like Candelario. But that's why we have those guys. The Cubs can easily afford these guys. $15 per is nothing for a 30 HR .285 BA 100 RBI guy consistently. And both have killed Cubs pitching this year.

It's being reported that Bruce is coming to the Cubs. As cubsmann stated, he killed Cubs pitching this year. The Cubs will be sending in return Kris Bryant as he just killed Reds pitching this year. (where's my green crayon?)

Heyward should be playing CF, he's by far our best defensive OF'er. Imagine Bruce, and Schwarber, and Folwer or Heyward in the outfield in 2017? Its kind of hard to but the Cubs would have 3 guys hitting 40 HR with 100 RBI's. Not many teams have that that have the Cubs pitching.

My favorite teams
  1. Colorado Rockies
  1. Atlanta United FC
  1. Los Angeles Lakers
  2. Orlando Magic
  3. Phoenix Suns
  4. Sacramento Kings
  1. Columbus Blue Jackets
Heyward takes unusual angles when he plays CF and he has already shown he is afraid of the brick wall. He is not a CF

Misconception. Half their games are played at wrigley which is a small of. It's why fowler has become a better cf because he is patrolling a huge center like Houston. They would have trouble in big ball park of's
