Our current GM put together one of the best farms in baseball in a very short time. They are well on their way to doing it again for my club. This has been about the most positive 20-40 start to the season I can think of.

Top 10 probably isn't a large stretch at this point..

Gaining more "impact" players

Are BJax (really no need to specify which Jax now that JJax is so bad) and Baez considered "impact", that's what I've been wondering lately.

I'd say that Rizzo and Soler definitely are, both Theo/Hoyer acquisitions.

Weren't we like 15th or something before?

you dont leap frog that much by getting soler and while the other teams in front of the cubs actually drafted too not just the cubs. they arent a top 10, they may break it if they move garza, but once rizzo comes up the farm rankings will take a hit.

What is the maximum service time for prospect status?

i forget. gotta look it up. it doesnt really matter because if rizzo comes up and plays well enough to stay in the bigs the rankings will go down, and if its service time that keeps the rankings a float for a while, fans will be fooling themselves into the wrong rank.

Come to think of it, organizational prospect rankings are kinda dumb... they should just do "Players under 25 organizational rankings", as I'd take Castro in the MLB over Castro in AAA right now, but the rankings only count it if he wasn't in MLB as is.

I think prospect time frame is governed by their age (over/under 19 methinks) as well as Rule 5 eligibility. It's probably on Wikipedia somewhere.

Bleacher Report seems to think that Travis Wood is a prospect  and that he and Lake are better prospects than Jackson and Baez
