Keith Law is saying he hasnt played much in 2 years. He will be brought along really slow unless he tears it up in low minors

he is on espn1000 right now

say 100% Almora will sign and probably be in the bigs at the same time if not faster than Soler

sounds like a good comparison for Soler is a much better defender and running Adam Dunn.

Keith Law's projection is 25-30hrs and 20 stolen bases says breaking ball will be his fault says doubt he has ever seen a good breaking ball.

says Courtney Hawkins was a steal at #13 for the Soxs and doubted he would be there.

says trade market is down says dont expect a lot from Dempster in trade because of the new CBA with compensation.

says 4 guys will likely be in top 50 spects in January

Wut?

That comparable is awful. I've heard Torii Hunter/lighter power Stanton but the Dunn comp is poop.

You have to be off the 40 man roster to be exposed to rule 5, but otherwise correct.

Indeed, but if he's not on the MLB roster by then, his 40-man spot doesn't matter because he'd be out of options anyway. He has to be promoted at that point or else he's waiver fodder as far as I understand.

My favorite teams
  1. Chicago White Sox
  2. Chicago Cubs
  1. Chicago Fire
  1. Chicago Bulls
  1. Chicago Bears

  3. Illinois-Chicago Flames
  4. Loyola Ramblers
  5. Northern Illinois Huskies
  6. Northwestern Wildcats
That is why his value is poor under old CBA the team that traded for Dempster could get some of what they traded back via draft pick. Now that there is no pick teams aren't gonna give up top spects for a rental like they would in the past. I doubt we get much

But the market also swayed the Cubs way since there are fewer alternatives for buying teams due to less sellers

Goldstein seems to think he is purely a RF. He threw out Josh Bell as an offensive comp. Also said 30 HR power was possible.

Right but the timing wouldn't really be an issue with the rule 5 draft. He wouldn't have to be exposed to waivers until after the rule 5 draft if he didn't stick the year he was out of options.

I think he gets one less year of minor league eligibility since he's a bit older but I think you're right on the timing part.

I was thinking the same thing. Dunn was never touted as having speed or defense, but just a guy who could provide immensely with the pop in ole stick there.

I've heard torri and stanton also, just don't know how well the stanton 1 is, and well I was thinking an Upton would be a decent comparison.

Justin Upton make more sense.

IMO his peak is in the Hunter/J. Upton/Adam Jones mold.

I don't like the Stanton comparison really. Soler doesn't have as much raw power IMO

Considering that there's no scouting videos or the like, and all we have to go on are snippets of scouting reports, I'm not sure we know what Soler is truly capable of until he shows up in Boise or Peoria. I'd like to trust the scouting reports that have been posted, though.

Yah I'm with you on that one. Stanton is a whole lotta something special and I just don't know if Soler has even close to that kinda raw power, let alone half of it.

But if he ends up being any combo of Upton/Jones/Hunter I'd say thats a massive win.

The Dunn/Bell ones are off the reservation from anything else I have read on the dude.

Odds are at least a few of those guys won't pan out, but if you add enough of those guys you can build enough of core that you can go out and buy free agents to fill in. At least that is what we are hoping for. There are serious questions about just about everyone on that roster you put together that have to be answered before they can be counted as part of the core.

True, and that is the case with every rebuild.

Sure, most of the time guys don't pan out, but its a pretty impressive group of guys. Not disagreeing with you, I'm just kind of impressed.
