If the Cubs wait till June 9th, they gain an extra year of control on Baez. I would venture to guess around that time is when they will start to think about bringing him up if he is doing well.

"If he is doing well"? According to your postings of late, he's parting the Red Sea, er...um, I mean the Des Moines River.

Since Baez isn't up yet, I want Soler behind Rizzo. When Baez gets to Wrigley that makes some sense.

I'm almost thinking that they should swap Russell and Baez. Russell at .286 looks like he needs an adjustment made.

I think the original plan / hope was to have Alcantara and La Stella hold down 2B until Baez heated up in Iowa and then those 2 would have significant roles off the bench..

Then the unfortunate of baez sister, Alcantara struggle, and La Stella injury forced their hands on Russell. ..

Now that Russell up and somewhat holding his own, have to feel they stick with him all the way now..

I almost think the plan was to have him in AAA until the trade deadline and then trade Castro and bump him up. They promoted him because they were winning. Winning changes the time lines.

I feel if they are starting to lose due to a lack of O and Baez is still hitting he will get bumped up. LF is a weakness on the team.

Fowler lead off and went yard. Castro made a nice defensive play to save a run and Russell made a terrific play at 2B. That should catch everyone up.

Stiff wind blowing out and through 7 Hendricks only gave up 1 run, a HR to Harper. So it's the 4 spot right now in the rotation or the third and slide Hammel to the 4th.

Yep. We were just discussing that the Cubs have been hitting line drives instead of putting the ball in the wind to let it carry.

Whether it's the right call or not, it pisses me off when the home plate umpire doesn't check the first or 3rd base umpire to see if the batter swung. I refuse to believe that you can pay attention to the accuracy of a pitch and tell if a batter swung on a check swing

Agree.. i go one further, i think in that case a batter should be able to appeal if HP ump says he swung. .

I agree. I can't remember what game it was, but it was a few year back and a batter got tossed from the game because he pleaded with the ump to check with the 1st base umpire
