Bryant...Russell. The young guys did it....We may be saying this for quite a few more years.

Great win after the 2 to 1 loss yesterday. This team doesn't quit and put down another one run Cub game.

I like what Doug Glanville had to say regarding Schwarber. He said he specifically watched him in the College post season, and said he squared up everything like he was facing 3 year olds. I know it's not true, but he said you may see him up quicker than people think.

You add him to Bryant and Rizzo, (not to mention the others), and that will be a lethal 3-4-5 hitters in the line-up for year to come, plus being two lefties.

Nice to see Hendricks out pitch Zimmerman. Not saying that will always happen but it's nice to see he's capable of doing so.

He's allowed 1 run in his last 16 innings. To be able to shut down a tough hitting Nationals team, especially tonight with the win blowing out a ton, to me, that speaks volumes.

Oh, and you might as well throw Wada's performance in there as well.

Sutcliffe made a good point to this month. Out of the 12 losses, 8 were given up by the bullpen. Ramirez can't get back quick enough, and they still would need some shut-down help elsewhere too.

You know the front office is looking very hard in this area.

Shame the wind aided that Harper job and spoiled another shutout for him.

The only way he promotes if they push him to LF. His catching skills will never keep up in time.

Like to see:
Fowler CF
Castro SS
Rizzo 1B
Bryant 3B
Schwarber LF
Soler RF
Montero C
pitcher
Russell 2B

Baez, Vogelbach (etc)traded for Hamels.

Rotation: Hamels, Lester, Arreta, Hammel, Hendricks

Pen: Rondon, Ramirez, Strop, Grimm, Medina, Russell, Rosscup

This team should be play off worthy.

All that matters is they won. Still what I like is he has figured out what he needed to to get back on track again.

Got monery riding on this, boys. Was at bowling tonight and saw Bryant's HR....what a shot, btw. Had guys saying it went over the scoreboard...I said it was a monster blast but over the scoreboard given how high it is would have to be a 500' shot. No way...my money is riding on it hitting the scoreboard. Anyone with great HD know for sure? TVs at the bowling alley are cheesy at best.

It hit the scoreboard and bounced back to the fans. It didn't go over it.

What is he thinking?
Coga LF
Rizzo 1B
Bryant 3B
Fowler CF
Castro SS
Lake RF
Ross C
Lester P
Russell 2B

This is one mad experiment that should never be made.

Cogs: 0 for 2- 2 SO
Rizzo 1 for 2 1 SO
Bryant 0 for 1 BB
Fowler 0 for 2 1 SO
Castro 1 for 1
Lake 0 for 1
Ross 0 for 1
Lester 0 for 1
Russell 0 for 1

There should be a rule that on Lester's days to keep the line up status que as they are losing Montero's bat as it is.

I really hope that Maddon eventually just lets Montero work with Lester and goes into more a Day off/Lefty starter match up.

Didn't get to see game but seriously that was a waste of having your no,1 starter on the mound. . Gave him no chance to win this game against an Ace..

Maddon is definitely an over thinker.

Today's line up was unnecessarily wacky, everybody knew it, and I still don't like the pitcher batting 8th, especially useless Lester

That is Joe in a nutshell. Wacky.

Losing to Max Scherzer is not a disgrace, and as bad as you think the line-up was, the Cubs left 17 men on base and couldn't put a runner across the plate.

It happens.

Looks as if the Cubs will go against KC with Volquez/Arrieta, Ventura/Hammel, and Guthrie/Wada.

Hopefully KC is in a little bit of a funk right now. The Cubs need to get back on track as they should have some decent matchups, and KC also has to use the pitcher with no DH in which, I hope helps out.
