Castro with the winner. no ground ball. Good job. We needed that - should have been over hours ago. Bryant with a nice game. Two doubles and a single, three runs scored.

McCarver can sometimes be intelligent, but once he gets down on a guy, he is so biased it isn't funny.

Lester needs to be solid and go AT LEAST 7 tomorrow. The bullpen is going to need a break or they are going to be taxed in a hurry.

Castro wins it and McCarver says he redeemed himself. Redeemed himself from what? This dude is nuts
McCarver is the worst. He should have went into forced retirement years ago.

Cubs have the chance to take 3 of 4 from the Reds and get to 7 over. Problem is, St. Louis keeps winning.

They won't be able to keep that up, imho, but in any case, you look at the wildcard race, too.

McCarver wasn't on the call. It was Karros

Well, ****, I used to like Karros but after that little dumb escapade. I thought it was funny. The ball took a bad hop and he blamed Castro for not smoothing out dirt that it didn't even hit. Then, when the single happened. The ball did the same thing coming back in from the OF but he ignore that. He looked really dumb and really bias towards hating Castro. Castro makes dumb mistakes but a ball that take a insane hop is not on him for not being a grounds keeper.

Well, sometimes the benefit of ex-ballplayers being on the broadcast is they say thins like that because they played with teammates who did such things. So maybe there is validity to it.

Castro plays short... there alot of dirt in front of him and to his left and right for him to be concerned about smoothing out...
that just a dumb comment and just piling onto the castro bashing party cause that what everyone else is doing ..

Just hope Ross does something positive at the dish tonight. Really need to win tonight to keep pace with Pittsburgh. The top end of their rotation is really hitting their stride. Cole, Burnett and Liriano have been great.

Karros may have been wrong. But the fact that some fans here say "the castro bashing party....everyone is doing it" is really, really sad. Analysts are paid to give their honest opinions. Why on earth would they decide to just bash a guy for no reason?

When everyone reaches the same conclusion, maybe the fans should take a listen. Maybe the fans need to realize they are not at all objective when evaluating the guy on the team they root for.

If you truly watch Starlin Castro play SS and don't see problems, you are not looking at it objectively. With the possible exception of Washington, no team has a SS who saves fewer runs defensively.

It's not a "bashing party". It is reality.

I'd rather throw Lake in the pen. Would be as effective as Schlitter.

Last night, with Cubs on Fox and Hawks on NBC, we had a tornado in the area and both local stations went to weather alerts from the studios.

NBC stayed off hockey forever. Fox eventually went back to broadcast just as the game was delayed. (And never came back to it.)

Tonight just as game is about to start, the power went out. Fortunately, it just came back, at least for now.

Im ok with pitcher 8th and Russell 9th

What im not ok with is bryant or rizzo hitting 2nd...

I get he wants to get them that extra AB but having one hitting in the 2 hole over the 4th spot is actually giving one of your best RBI guys less opportunities to hit with guys on base, especially in first inning..

Plus now with Soler out, there no real HR/RBI threat in middle of order after the 3rd hitter...
Its even worse when he plays Ross over Montero. ..

I wish he would stick with what he did on Saturday and bat Coghlan 2nd

I don't think there are many guys who are better baserunners than Kris Bryant.

Perfect example. . Twice now in first 3 innings Rizzo come up with no one on base, hitting in 2 hole....

I like Fowler but he hasn't exactly been that OBP guy in the leadoff spot
