I would love to see Lester plunk Puig the first time up regardless of game situation. :)

I got a phone call, so had the game muted, but would like to have heard what was said when Maples hit a batter after the warnings, and did not get ejected. Probably because he's just Maples. But Bell got ejected while arguing it.

All funny, but we need to back that all up with a win tomorrow. Could be fun.

You are 6-6. Don't quit your day time job.
Well I’m not 0-12 or 4-8, something bad. 6-6 is about the cubs record in their last 12 and you guys aren’t giving up on them haha

Pre posting your negative turns into a win: 54.9% win rate.

post 50% win rate.

I already told you that that stuff is hogwash.

So......I predict a strong outing from Q, and you predict the Cubs get killed, and when they win, you are the one taking credit?

Ummm....OK. :)

Well I hope this helps Q turn a corner.

What I was looking at was each starter's hits per 9.

Alzolay: 2.08
Darvish: 7.37
Hamels: 7.68
Chatwood: 8.59
Hendricks: 8.66
Quintana: 9.57
Lester: 9.84

It was an improvement but there is still room to improve. Darvish can be nasty. I think where he is getting hurt is his HR/FB: 24.3% 2nd to Chatwood 25.9% Seeing Hamels at 10.7% is the tale of the tape between the two. Darvish is making more mistakes in the heat maps.

Hey I gave you credit and said good call on Q today! I have however had a plus .500 win rate when I predict a cubs loss.

Have I really predicted 12 games? Thought it was just 5 or so

Yeah 2 and 4 definitely need more ground balls and less walks and the rotation could be very good and consistent

More to it than just that.

GB%

Chatwood: 52.4
Hamels: 51.1
Q: 47.2
Darvish: 47.2
Lester: 42.9
Hendricks: 41.9

Each pitcher has his own story.

Chatwood generates plenty of GB. This leads to his high amount of double plays. But when he makes a mistake up he gets clobbered.

Darvish has the best raw stuff. But he makes mistakes on location and pays for it.

Hendricks has the lowest ground ball rate but the best success. That is based off a low walk rate (4.4%)and pitching to location and generating weak fly balls (9.9% HR/FB).

Lester is codependant on his cutter. He still stays in zone (5.1% BB) but he is missing on his cutter too much with his H/9 being well over 9. But in general he is staying down in the zone. which is creating loft (42.9% GB) but not over powering. 15.7% HR/FB. He regains his cutter that flips.

Q is a weird apple. He is very co-dependent on late ball movement. Next start he might give up 7 runs again. Hard to gauge him because his stuff is not over powering. Even today he was at a hit a inning. The D was solid behind him. And he didn't beat himself with walks.

Hamels has been the staff ace. He is about even on his FB/GB rates but they are not getting all of his pitches. So he is mixing well and locating excellently.

Alzolay has been great to date. He burns out early. Which has led to his BB% at 20%. But they are not able to track his pitches at all. He has 2 HR's against him and 1 came in the 1st inning. 2nd was when his pitch count got up. As far as what to predict. It is hard to tell. He builds endurance. Or the league figures him out.

TL1961 I got to hand it to ya... good call on Q having a good game. My apologies but I really didn’t see a shutout win today. It’s awesome and I know l will catch hell later on this board but it’s worth it. My reverse psychology has worked like a charm again ?
see you next week?

Pittsburgh is trailing Milwaukee 3-1 in the 7th.

If Pitt loses this game, I believe that will make them 0-43 against the Brewers so far this season.

Pirates are 2-7 against Milwaukee. One of those wins was last night. So 1-6 coming in. It seems much worse.

But the Cards gave up a TD in the bottom of the second so there's that. They trail 7-1.

That’s baseball and a reason why I don’t care about cubs’ opponents records since the bad teams seem to give the cubs problems.
