Pitching pitching and more pitching won this game

Great job by Arrieta and the bullpen

And the benefit of a couple calls, but hey, a win is a win and we needed it!

That call on the steal at 2nd was interesting. Having that tag down before the runner has been automatic out for years, and the umps apparently didn't want to change it, which is actually good. Middle IF will get injured if they don't call that an out. But replay makes it harder to justify it, I suppose. Glad to see they upheld that call - not just because it went for the Cubs, but frankly, if you're going to change the way it is called the SS and 2nd baseman need to know so they can move the glove. Good cal, IMO.

I watched plenty of Lee Smith, and we always commented that no matter how big the lead, he at least got the tying run on base, if not scoring position.

When people talk of Lee Smith and the HOF, I cringe.

We got a break, he got by the tag and his foot got on the bag. Whatever Cubs needed a break and they won the ball game.

Bruce Sutter

Closers need to bring that pitch back. Splitter used to dominate the game. All went to cutters now.

Chuck Swirski (SP) is subbing for Hawk while he is out with minor surgery. Chuck hasn't done a game in like 34 years. He's actually quite decent really.

Thanks.. i just caught the 1 batter, it was the complete opposite of Harrelson. .lol.. it was just a dry talking call with no emotion behind it, not even disappointment. .

It was like.. single to left...... runner around third...... rangers win...... good night..lol

I just flipped back to cubs game after that.....
