Yeah, Chuck isn't bringing his Bulls voice to the game. He can't. He's a newbie at this. But for a newbie he's not bad. Now the White Sox on the other hand...*ugh*

Chuck Swirski (SP) is subbing for Hawk while he is out with minor surgery. Chuck hasn't done a game in like 34 years. He's actually quite decent really.

I saw part of one game with Swirski. I didn't find him bad at all and he allows Stone to be Stone, which he can't be when he's smothered by Hawk.

Yeah, I've found Chuck doing mostly interview style questions with Stone pretty good actually. I also enjoy how Stone "answers" questions he has no idea what the answer to the question actually is either. He's pretty good at the sidestep.

I like the lineup for tonight’s game. Anywhere but the 4 spot this year is good for Starlin. Prefer him in the 5 but Lake has been playing better lately.

Fowler CF
Rizzo 1B
Bryant 3B
Montero C
Lake RF
Castro SS
Coghlan LF
Wada P
Russell 2B

Like I said the biggest weakness on the Cubs going forward is Wada. They are going to have to upgrade a pitching spot at some point this year.

I like Bryant's aggressiveness there...this team scores no runs. Do what you can

Sutter was a god. Would be one of my favorite all time cubs if he didnt consider himself a cardinal.

Man, I hate this. Rizzo's multi-homer game is for naught, and tomorrow will be some pathetic 2-0 loss

And now we're back to ball sucking like it's 2012.

Cubs are still 3 games over .500. To say that they have played their worst ball the last 2 weeks or so would be a true statement.

They need to battle through the injuries, make a move to bolster the rotation and pen and move forward. You only have to finish in the top 5 in the NL to have a chance to move on.

After playing their worst ball, they are currently 1-1/2 games out of a WC spot. It is a long season, and the Cubs are far from out of any playoff race.

Not injury: Bryant last 7 games .208 BA. That has been a big factor going on recently. Lake has been hitting .313. Coghlan .353. Just shows you that the O goes as Bryant goes. Even at this early of a time in his career. Also Fowler .240. Just comes down to you #1 and #2 hitters in a slump. That affects RBI production. Russell should be added here. .158 as he factors into OBA hitting #9.

Less food for the SLG means less runs. RS last 7: Fowler: 5, Rizzo: 4, Bryant: 3, Castro: 3 then 4 players with 1. So 19 runs in the past week. Little over 2 per game. Makes it tough for the staff to win like that.

He is carrying a high BABIP still at .380 something. He has been much better at home then on the road. His splits are kind of interesting. His ISO is down half what it normally was in the minors. His K's are up but so are his walks. He has had 15 out of 19 line drives fall for a hit. If the counts is 1-1 or worse on him. He takes a huge nose dive. Most hitters do, but he is .230 or under starting at 1-1. Under .200 with 2 strikes. He is hitting much better with men on then the bases empty. League is starting to adjust. Now it is his turn. He has sacrificed some power for average so I see that being able to even out. They are busting him in and throwing down and away breaking balls. That is the gameplay against him right now. Lets see the adjustments.

Maddon yanked Rondon after 1 batter. Not many managers would do that. Neither Rondon or Strop looked good. Im not sure how Strop got the save with no damage. His slider was hanging and he couldn't throw a fastball near the zone.

Hammel is putting in one hell of a year if you include his cubs starts from last year too.

Has Hammel ever made an All Star game? Put together a couple more gems without a dud and he's gotta get some consideration.

He has not. As for him making it, I'd like to believe he can but if I'm being honest I don't know if that's the case. You're just going to have a bunch of guys get in on name alone. Last year in terms of pitching you had the following

Starters
Clayton Kershaw
Alfredo Simon
Zack Greinke
Adam Wainwright

Relievers
Tony Watson
Craig Kimbrel
Aroldis Chapman
Tyler Clippard
Pat Neshek
Francisco Rodriguez

So, you're likely only talking about 4-5 starters max. Scherzer is a lock. Gerrit Cole probably should be. So then you got a list of guys like Shelby Miller, Zack Greinke, Kershaw, Michael Wacha, Matt Harvey, Arrieta, Jordan Zimmermann, Jacob deGrom, Madison Bumgarner....etc. And the thing Hammel doesn't have going for him is Rizzo almost assuredly makes the all star team. So given you have to take one guy from each team that starts to make this more difficult.
