Well, take Denver as an example. During the game, the announcers were saying and pointing out that Denver has more good solid OLB pass rushers than they have roster spots. We could grab one of these solid young rushers if they cut them.

Denver announcers praising Denver players

There has never been a larger group of homers than Denver announcers. Don't believe everything you hear as gospel.

#Titans cut DB Demontre Hurst, source said. Bit of a surprise after productive preseason for former Bear.

I cannot figure out how simple reading seems to fly right past you. When did i or anyone say it was gonna be our solution? It's called giving guys a tryout to see what they can do and you never know when one could come in and fit our system or take to our coaching and be just fine for just the season. It's happened before and will happen again. Then next year is when we find our solution....you know like i've been saying all along and talking about how strong the 2019 offseason is at edge rusher in free agency and the draft many many times.

Pay attention please.

Your original post that I quoted made it sound like you and/or Pace believes there would be a solution to our OLB woes in the coming cuts. My bad for misinterpreting that. Yes, everything is always 'next year' with this organization.

Aaron Donald is getting a 6-year, $135M deal from the #Rams with $87M guaranteed. It is the largest payout to a defensive player in NFL History.

I think Mack is next, now that the details have come out for Donald.

Yep and he's gonna get right around the same amount which is somewhere around $22 mil per which is what we've been saying.

Just read that Mack's people and the Raiders have barely even spoken.

These contracts are getting out of hand.

Heard that about the Bears and Smith too...just a few days before he signed.

Remember when Da Bears Blog claimed on Twitter to have sources at Halas Hall saying Smith would be signed by Wednesday after training camp started. A month later he finally signed. I’ve never understood why people feel the need to act like they have inside info or to feel more important than they are. He always claims to be good friends with an NFL GM and NFL Scouts, yet he writes a shitty blog. Hmmmm.

The “kicker” is Roberto Aguayo has looked good in camp and maybe make the Chargers roster.

Parkey has not been very good in pre-season. I believe the Ravens have a good young kicker they are going to have to cut.

Who are your surprise cuts and keeps?

Surprise cut: Bobby Massie - seriously I would be shocked, but could also see it happening
Surprise keep: Hroniss Grasu
How in the world could you even possibly see this coming? WHo is playing RT then? He is an average RT, does not suck.

Grasu isn't even good enough to play his natural position, a position he's presumably played most of his life yet you somehow think he can play FB better than a FB... That he can catch passes just as good... Burton has only caught eight passes in the NFL so his hands must not be much better than Grasu's, the same Grasu who hasn't been asked to catch the ball in god knows how long?

Bizarre thinking man...
Sorry, but 8 receptions in 3 years brings ZERO to the receiving table.

Once you take out the receiving from the FB title, all that is left is blocking.

So who has more experience in blocking a starting lineman in college or a starting FB in college?

The easy answer is that a starting lineman in college has many more chances to block than a starting fullback in college.

Who has more chances of blocking in the pros?

This one becomes a little more interesting because a backup lineman only will block when someone in front of him is injured while a starting FB is used rarely.

I honestly would rather use the spot for another TE, OLB or CB. However, if the Bears decide that they need someone to be the battering ram in front of the HB, don´t be stuck with the notion that a Clutts or Burton would be better than someone who has played as an offensive lineman all his life, be it Grasu or any athletic lineman the Bears can find.

Quick question: What will happen the next time that Mike Burton catches a football in an NFL game?

Answer: The career receptions for Tyler Clutts + the career receptions for Mike Burton will equal 20 receptions, not each ... total.
