So I'm an idiot for being happy that a team I dislike lost in the playoffs? He may be right that most Bears' fans are idiots, but that has nothing to do with being happy that the Packers lost. Especially the way they did.

I will also be happy when/if the Patriots lose to the Seahawks....

Most people are idiots right? Reality is we are all idiots at different points in our lives. Watching other men play a game and being emotionally invested in it is by definition idiotic.

Well said. I actually turned the game off yesterday to run an errand thinking it was over with 5 minutes left. I had accepted Green Bay was going to the Super Bowl and that they were probably going to win it. I had also expected to see pictures of McCarthy, Rodgers and Matthews holding up the NFC Championship Trophy when I opened up Twitter when I got home only to see that the game was in overtime. Then I started reading how the Packers choked it away in regulation.

That added on to the emotion for me. If there wasn't the drama of how Green Bay lost yesterday I don't think we would have seen Bear fans as elated as they were. Happy they lost? Yes, but not to this level. It was an epic collapse and all of Bear nation just soaked it in.

the way they lost was exactly what they were laughing at the Bears about during the last bear-GB game. Damn right I laugh. Rodgers wants to show disrespect to our team and fan base by chuckling consistently throughout a game, I am ecstatic to see him falter in the same exact manner too which he laughed. That my friends is Hilarious!

B&B serve a very important function in this town, nobody else approaches sports talk in the same combative way as they do. If you got rid of them you're left with a bunch of very vanilla voices. I love Waddle & Silvy or Mannelly & spiegs as much as the next guy but they're also soft compared to B&B.

I don't get why people on this forum hate everyone. I listen to everyone. You have to get as many POV as possible to be informed.

I imagine him to be the type of guy who will act tuff and talk shit, but when its time to throw down he scampers away behind people or objects till the threat is gone then starts running his mouth again.

Packers fans spammed my facebook when we lost the Super Bowl. It's the natural order of things. Don't give into negativity, don't apologize for something on your television making you feel good for a couple minutes because of something out of your control.

Sports is not serious business and I refuse to let the Bears success/failures determine how I will act during my life.

Well logically, he's not correct. Bernstein's tweet is a variant of the tu quoque fallacy. The real question is whether or not the Packers deserve the ridicule (the truth of which is independent of the Bears' performances). And to that question, the answer seems to be a resounding Yes.

Not plants, but Matt Abbatacola's (Bernstein wannabe JR.) has a simple job, screen out everyone who isn't a mouthbreathing boob. that's the whole bit, anyone who has brain cells who calls, unless they agree word for word with Dan, aren't let on the air, and if they pretend to be a dumbass, to get past Matt, the second they go off script, they are muted, talked over, and hung up on.

The whole thing only works with Dan being the smartest man in the room, as soon as he isn't, the whole bit falls apart. Which is why I turn them off as soon as they start taking phone calls, once you know the bit, it isn't funny anymore. I don't mind Dan's monologue opinion bits, or the guests that they have on weekly ( and not the fan guests, the actual paid expert guests, I don't care to listen to a senile old **** review a movie, it was funny, the first time, now it's sad. )

Basically, he doesn't want to actually have a conversation with anyone who might possibly be his equal on a subject. Also, I don't think he gives much of a shit about anything other than his son's hockey HOF career, and basketball. Actually, I don't think he knows a whole lot about other sports to be honest.

TL;DR He's entertaining in very very small doses. And it's all a bit.

Honestly, he's at his best when he is directing that self-righteous attitude towards a worthy cause, like when a college coach protects a player who raped someone, or the penn state fiasco.

The problem is he picks too many self-serving causes in the meantime, which acts as a definite turn off.


The thing to keep in mind, is they have been on the air for 15 years for a reason. In the end, the ratings don't give a shit if you are listening or hate-listening; the ratings are the ratings, and they suggest that the majority who say they don't listen to B&B are full of shit.

Don't like him? Don't listen. Just don't still listen and then come on the forums and pretend you don't, because the ratings say you're likely a liar.

I dont think they have to screen out the smart people for the most part. I think a lot of people self screen. I wouldn't waste time arguing with him so he can lower the volume and yell over me.

I do listen, but I turn it off when I do not like it. I hate when he has no patience for an opposing view to his. He cannot fathom he might be wrong or at least not as right as he thinks he is.

There have been a couple of times when Boers couldn't make it and they didn't find a replacement, so it was just Bernstein by himself, it was very enjoyable. He was cordial and actually let people talk with him on the phone.

I noticed that too. Sometimes Boers just makes stupid noises in the background. It is as if he has some mental problem.
