You be careful going out on that “he’s not Peyton Manning” limb. 😂

The point was not that every young QB is going to be equal to Manning. The point is that it’s ridiculous to draw conclusions too soon.

I can’t explain it more clearly. Sorry you’re not getting it.
But the only characterization i disagree with is Williams not being generational or warranting the number one pick.

Manning wasn’t a once in a generation QB. So, how can Williams be generational and yet you’re shying away from manning comparisons?

You guys are hilarious

He’s generational

No he’s not. Here are reasons why

So you would have given up on Peyton manning (Who was not a once in a generation QB)

He’s not as good as manning and here’s what shows that

Who said he’s as good as manning, but he’s also generational … lol
I don't know what you're talking about. Apparently, neither do you.

Apparently whatever you're on about isn’t even football or bears related at this point.

Not based in reality either.

Folks are either end of the spectrum and if you point it out they try lumping you in with one of the extremes.

SMH. It's Christmas, Ebenezer. Lighten up a little.

He said something like “Caleb has been pretty good. Is he Jayden Daniels? No. Daniels is great. Does that make him bad? No. We were wrong about him, but he’s not bad.” I think he meant wrong about the generational stuff

And I think that’s what is sinking in. Definitely to those outside of Chicago.

I’m never dogmatic about these things. Williams isn’t Rex grossman. He’s not awful. He just didn’t warrant the number one pick. Would I have been fine with getting a QB like him with the 27th pick? Sure. Good organizations find QBs like that with value.

And that’s the issue with the bears QB history. The last QB they got who was as good as their draft pick or better was Kyle Orton. Before that, who knows.

So, haugh sounded like a far cry from generational this morning. And it begs the question..

Will this be memory holed? You know, the way halfway through the 2006 season the majority of bears fans thought rex grossman was amazing and now there are like 5 people who will admit to that.

Because, here’s my issue with bears fans who were wrong about cutler, who don’t know who Rex grossman is, allegedly, and who will end up being wrong about Williams. (Not that he’s terrible, just not anywhere approaching generational).

The next time the bears are in position to have an actual rebuild where you build a solid team, they’re going to want their shiny new toy. They don’t think that the teams they watch with excellent QB play got there by hiring front office people who onow something others don’t. They don’t think it’s about getting value at QB. They think it’s about throwing as many prime assets as they can at the QB position.

And if you’re haugh, who talked about Williams like he was John way… do you really get to be the authority on this stuff the next time around?

I never really feel like I’m talking to people who thought that all of the previous guys were what they ended up being but now they really like Williams. Maybe trubisky, but that’s it. They thought jay cutler was what they think Williams is… well, what they’re grasping into him hopefully being.
27th pick?

GTFO

Meatball fans might be worse than the dipshit owners and gm's

Eli is not in Peyton’s league. He has two.

Troy Aikman is not in Peyton’s league. He has three.

Jim Plunkett is not in Peyton’s league. He has two.

Matthew Stafford is not in Peyton’s league. He has one.
You're wasting your time. I'm having a problem understanding the problem he/she is having now. I think it has morphed into arguing for argument's sake.

I never called Williams generational. And I don’t give two shits about anyone saying he is or he isn’t. I don’t need him to be the greatest quarterback that ever lived. I need him to be good enough to win Super Bowls. And I think he will be that.

Does that mean he’s guaranteed to win one? Of course not. Drafting a quarterback who is good enough to get you a Super Bowl win doesn’t guarantee that he will. It means it gives you a chance. Lots of other things have to fall into place. Josh Allen does not have one. Lamar Jackson does not have one. Dan Marino does not have one!

I just think drawing a conclusion today that he was a bad pick is ridiculous.

Don’t waste your time with this guy. Just his bizarre Rex/Caleb correlation is pretty much all you need to realize he’s breathing through the mouth 24/7.

By the way, great post.
