Yeah....
You have fun with that, Boston.
But I thought he would give the Cubs a discount because they were an up and coming team and he played for Maddon! [/greentext]
Your green text didn't take but I got the idea anyway. Personally, I didn't want him here anyway....The Cubs need TOR guy that can actually win post season games. Something that has somehow eluded Price. The Cubs aren't there yet but at some point I'm hoping that they'll be like the Blackhawks where the regular season is only for slotting purposes. Hawk fans don't give a shit about being the "best" regular season team....only that they are the best playoff team. I don't think getting Price was the way to get the Cubs where they need to be in that regard.
What we've learned is that the Cubs are not the team players who are free agents want to be a part of. Nor is Price's earlier comments about the Cubs anything but an example as I said. And finally Joe is not a selling point apparently
The window is small folks. Was that a heavy set woman I just saw? Probably not.
Come on Cubs and step up!

Believe what you need to.That's very, very silly. Dude had $217 million reasons to sign with Boston. No deferrals just cold hard cash. You don't say no to that. St. Louis and the Cubs were both said in the $180's. No thank you to $217 mil.
You may very well have a pointThe Cubs are built to win 90+ games.
They aren't built to win a championship... they don't have the pitching depth and they strike out too much.
No reason in the world why they shouldn't be spending money on top free agents right now.
Also, there's no reason why they shouldn't be able to acquire controllable young pitchers right now, considering the horde of position players in the organization.
But we are talking about the Cubs after all. And we all know how this thing is going to play out.
I agreeGreinke > Price hopefully we can sign him
Greinke > Price hopefully we can sign him
The Cubs could have had Scherzer, Greinke or Price. Sadly, they hate spending money on top FAs, and don't know how to invest it properly, as evidenced by the Lester signing.
Besides, Greinke is looking for $200MM+ and I doubt he has any interest the Cubs.
