Yes on the replay after the extra point. One of the corners grabbed Mariani's face mask and twisted it before Cutler threw the ball on the other side of the field. Wouldn't have affected the play but still a penalty.

Cool.. So Jay got bailed out on a call that was on the other side of the field and had no effect on the actual play....

Think we agree.

People hated that guy..

All he did was play within the system called and win games for us.

But at least we have a guy who can throw the ball 50 yards over the head of our receivers.

Orton wasn't hated for throwing short, he was has hated for throwing poorly at any distance until 2008 when he got his shit together. He also had healthy MM, BB, Gage, Rashid Davis and Desmond Clark. Heck, backups Bradley and Wade would give a couple of our opening day starters a run. He played behind Tait, Brown, Miller, Garza and Kreutz. Jay would be throwing deeper with that crew.

I know, let's air it out with Marinara (who has yet to figure out who to block on those WR screens), Royal and our current Oline. Brilliant! Jay is an above average starter in Yards per attempt. If you count almost picks, you should count almost TDs that get dropped as well or just enjoy getting decent play from your QB. Luck averages out over a season. Jay has played well this one. Still hope Goff drops to us.:yep:

theres 100 things u can blame for the shittyness of this team this season but jay Cutlers play isnt one of them ya goddamn idiots

No one is narrowing this season's failure as solely on Cutler. But he's probably the biggest reason the. Bears have failed but not the only. Look at the close games the Bears have lost this season and you can narrow those close games down to his career low number of TDs. Anytime you're in a close game and your QB can only muster one touchdown that ineptitude falls squarely on his inability to make a play. Cutler was awful in the red zone today luckily the guy people want to cut bailed him out with four field goals.

He's on pace for a career low in TDs. His ability to make play within the confines of the offense is nearly non-existent. If a play breaks down and he gets into a backyard football type situation he's made plays, but when there needs to be a play made within he offense, he's been cut off and reigned. The coaches FEAR Cutler and his likely failure, they don't trust him to win. He's scatter shot with his accuracy it's just a mess.

Alex smith made it to a NFC championship game and will be in the playoffs this year. Do you hate him too?

Adam gase has turned cutler into alex smith, with the exception that cutler throws to his WRs.

Did you read the OP. I clearly said he has played as well as he can.

Gase has done an amazing job of masking Cutlers limitations.

I don't get the anti or pro Cutler arguments. He's payed around 15th in the league at his position, which is where he's paid. He's shown he can play with a shitty oline and make them statistically look good.

I get arguing with those who think he's one of the best and with those that think he sucks but the reality is that he's about the 15th best QB in the NFL.

He's very inconsistent with amazing accuracy in one moment and terrible decision making in the next. His technique can be terrible but he has the ability to throw a strike off his back foot.

He has maybe a handful of passes he threw away to play another down but he also has many plays he's extended and made a first down.

This is the first year an OC has played to his floor and not his ceiling and both are being praised for it. And i agree this is how you manage Cutler. Don't think he's a top 10 QB but don't pretend he's in the bottom 20.

My only hope is that an improved oline brings out a better Cutler because what he's done with this oline in this offense has been pretty good. Not amazing, not great but pretty good.

Sent from a spaghetti monster circling the earth

That about sums it all up:)

No he is not. He has 19 TD's right now. His lowest not counting the 5 games he started for Denver his first year was 13 in 2011 in 10 games, 19 in 2012 in 15 games and 19 in 2013 in 11 games. So the closest comparison is 2012 since he played 15 games that year like he will this year that means he has tied his worst already which means he is not on pace for the lowest number of TDs in his career.

He will have his lowest amount of INTs if you disregard his 5 games played in 2006 where he had 5 and the 10 games played in 2011 when he had 7.

The Bears were 2-4 in the redzone today and 1 of the misses was a drop by Royal on 3rd down. You gonna blame Cutler for that?

This is the absoulute truth...he is not the problem. But my hope is done

I think the problem is that some people had hope to begin with. Most people had already accepted that Cutler was average.
