Well said.

That is the whole point of the OP.

He has been reigned in.

Gase won't let him throw long.

Throw the dump off. Throw the WR screen.

Throw the high-percentage pass to boost stats while not helping the team win....

It's a good formula for a coach looking to bail.

The most nauseating and asinine excuse for Cutler is year has been the receiving core injury excuse.

As an example Cam Newton lost his best receiver Kelvin Benjamin for the season, the Panther have jack squat to throw to. Oh I know here comes the Greg Olson excuse as if he's some rock solid as to why Cam Newton is playing at an MVP level.

It's so excruciating to hear every excuse in the book for Jay Cutler while other QBs face similar WR depth problems (Tom Brady) and yet these guys elevate their play and excel in the face adversity. Newton has led his team to the best record in football, Cutler still Cutty still Steve DeBerg, does just enough to get you beat.

Robbie Gould and four field goals today, but let's cut him. Jay Cutler career low in INTs and TDs....way to go.

Can the mods come up with a way to selectively ignore posts? Like ignore posts from certain posters when the content includes "Cutler" etc. Honestly, I hate to put people on ignore cause I find most people have some intelligent posts occasionally. I would rather just ignore the stupid posts than the poster completely. Just a thought.

My favorite teams
  1. Chicago Cubs
  1. Chicago Bulls
  1. Chicago Bears
  1. Chicago Blackhawks
Please explain the other years when he had arguably the best weapons in football......was he Brady like?

He did play better against the Cards then Rodgers...

Tom Brady is one of the best quarterbacks to ever play the game. Trying to set expectations to him for Cutler, or 99 percent of quarterbacks for that matter, is unrealistic. As far as Cam Newton, he's playing at an MVP level this season because he's turned into an MVP caliber player who's looking like he's going to be one of the top QB's for the next decade, not to mention he's a ridiculous dual threat. He's another quarterback who doesn't have a comparison because he's basically playing on a different level.

You do realize that the Gase calls these plays because of the receivers Cutler is working with right? Jeffery and presumably White would be the deep threats on this team. No one else can gain separation deep.

Also a good point. There have been times this season when White, Jeffery and Royal have all been out. It doesn't matter who's at quarterback and for what team, when your top 3 wide receivers are injured, the offense is going to be scaled back.

They can't.

They can't. That would upset their agenda.

Cutler is having one of his best years ever in terms of QB rating.

Yet.... He is still losing.

And he wasn't even whispered to be a pro-bowler.

Cutler fans are peplexed...

The team is losing. There was not one loss that you can sit there and say... you know, if we had a better QB, we would have won today! Not one.

I liked that pass downfield Cutler had in the 4th quarter to Miller where he escaped the rush and charged up near the LOS and threw a 30 yard rope to Miller right between the numbers.

I am not a Cutler fan. I am a Bears fan. We need better players at lots of positions. Mason Foster is doing well after we cut him. Marshall is doing well after we traded him. We need to do a better job evaluating talent.

The facemask was not phantom. The announcers even said it was the right call after they saw the replay. The right word is not phantom. The right word is meaningless. It would have been the same result of the play if the guy never did it.

Cutler is a factor in which the team has to develop a scheme based on his inabilities.

That's a bad thing. No?

Yes on the replay after the extra point. One of the corners grabbed Mariani's face mask and twisted it before Cutler threw the ball on the other side of the field. Wouldn't have affected the play but still a penalty.

You'd rather ignore and then post in it.

I don't get the anti or pro Cutler arguments. He's payed around 15th in the league at his position, which is where he's paid. He's shown he can play with a shitty oline and make them statistically look good.

I get arguing with those who think he's one of the best and with those that think he sucks but the reality is that he's about the 15th best QB in the NFL.

He's very inconsistent with amazing accuracy in one moment and terrible decision making in the next. His technique can be terrible but he has the ability to throw a strike off his back foot.

He has maybe a handful of passes he threw away to play another down but he also has many plays he's extended and made a first down.

This is the first year an OC has played to his floor and not his ceiling and both are being praised for it. And i agree this is how you manage Cutler. Don't think he's a top 10 QB but don't pretend he's in the bottom 20.

My only hope is that an improved oline brings out a better Cutler because what he's done with this oline in this offense has been pretty good. Not amazing, not great but pretty good.
