I don't like losing...

I don't either. But it took a long time for them to get this shitty. Three organizations and ten years. I think Pace has made some good decisions and a few bad ones. Comes with the turf. I'm not a big fan of Cutler but he isn't the biggest problem that they have on a team this bad. I think that they need to ride out his contract find a young qb that can develop behind him or trade him for a young qb who can step in right away along with cap relief and a high draft pick also.

In my view they need to build an offensive line around Slausen and Long. All this talk about Leno is bull crap. He's a back-up and nothing else. And build the defense around Goldman, Young, McPhee, Sutton, and Fuller. This will take two solid years to get to a sniff at the play-offs.

I also think that they should re-sign Matt Forte, keep Bennett, and franchise tag Jeffrey. This will give them eleven solid to above average NFL players and a two number one draft picks if you include White. So that is hopefully thirteen starters before you count free agency and the rest of the draft additions.

I, again, do not think Cutler is anything special as a quarterback but he is good enough during a transition period for a bad football team which this team is.

I think Cutler is on a par with Stafford and right now slightly better than Bridgewater who has a nice upside. This is going to become a nice horse race in the next couple of years it looks like.

People who ONLY watch Bears games have a jaded view on offensive lines.

People who watch ALL NFL games have a much better view.

By an unobjective 3rd party analysis, The Bears still have a top 10 NFL offensive line.

Both in terms of PASS PROTECTION and in terms of RUN BLOCKING.

People think that just becasue Jay has to run a little, his line sucks. NO

EVERY QB HAS TO NAVIGATE THE POCKET.

LEARN THAT.

Here are the FACTS: Bears Oline are #8 in pass protection and #9 in Run blocking.

Quit blaming the fucking line...

Not hardly. The stats lie. Position by position:

Leno: D

Slausen: B+

Grasu: D

Ducasse: D-

Long: B-

The only thing holding the line together is Cutler getting the ball out quickly and not taking sacks and cutting down Ints.

Mongo, I suggest you just create a new screen name and start over again. This has gotten to the point where it is irreversible for anyone to ever take you seriously again.

He talks football. Disagree with him all that you want but come-on. He talks football like we all should without the cheap shots taking front and center/

Mongo, you can't have it both ways... you can't or shouldn't complain about WR screens and 5 yard dump passes, which are used to protect a QB, then say QB protection is fine, or is your middle name, "Mike Martz"?

Good point/

Unless those numbers include all the sacks that Cutler has avoided with his own legs, then I give precisely jack and shit about them because they don't tell the whole story. All QBs have to navigate the pocket, yes, but from my vantage point, Cutler has had to do that more than the average QB (and has done it better this year than he has any other year in Chicago, IMO).

No one is narrowing this season's failure as solely on Cutler. But he's probably the biggest reason the. Bears have failed but not the only. Look at the close games the Bears have lost this season and you can narrow those close games down to his career low number of TDs. Anytime you're in a close game and your QB can only muster one touchdown that ineptitude falls squarely on his inability to make a play. Cutler was awful in the red zone today luckily the guy people want to cut bailed him out with four field goals.

He's on pace for a career low in TDs. His ability to make play within the confines of the offense is nearly non-existent. If a play breaks down and he gets into a backyard football type situation he's made plays, but when there needs to be a play made within he offense, he's been cut off and reigned. The coaches FEAR Cutler and his likely failure, they don't trust him to win. He's scatter shot with his accuracy it's just a mess.

Awful in the red zone, you say?

The first red zone drive ended in a touchdown run by Carey after a PI put the Bears at the one.
The second red zone drive was ended on a sack by Gerald McCoy, after Ducasse got fucking torched. Cutler damn near escaped and would've had a wide-open Royal had he done so (although whether or not Royal makes the catch is debatable).
The third red zone drive was at the four, and then a false start by Long moved them back to the nine. Cutler bought time, found Royal open, and hit him right in the goddam numbers with a pass. Royal dropped it.
The fourth red zone drive ended in a touchdown pass from Cutler to Carey, two plays after a pass from Cutler to Miller moved them to the 3.

That's not awful. Not by a fucking long shot.

Cool.. So Jay got bailed out on a call that was on the other side of the field and had no effect on the actual play....

Think we agree.

Refs call penalties like this all the time. Like half of the block in the back penalties have no effect on the play. Same for holding. Woulda shoulda coulda...

Now for the actual interception...Cutler is definitely partly to blame for that play, but so is the play calling. Call short passes every play and eventually the defense is gonna read it. Where me and you disagree is the reason for the play calling. You think it's Cutler. I think it's the receiving core he has currently.

Can the mods come up with a way to selectively ignore posts? Like ignore posts from certain posters when the content includes "Cutler" etc. Honestly, I hate to put people on ignore cause I find most people have some intelligent posts occasionally. I would rather just ignore the stupid posts than the poster completely. Just a thought.

Sounds like that would require extensive work with the coding of the website. Considering most of us mods are struggling with our finger painting class, I don't think that's going to happen.

We can merge the shit out of threads though. Just watch!

Can you tell Scoot to do that with every thread Mongo and JDB start here?

You'd problem is you think he wants discussion. Mongo usually gets embarrassed when there is real discussion. At this point it is obvious that he is only in it to talk Cutler so please just ban him or prevent him from making threads

Ok guys I'm back. This thread seems like the perfect thread to set up shop and talk about your favorite vacation spot or dream vacation.

My favorite vacation spot so far is puerta vallarta Mexico/ phucket Thailand but I want to go to bora bora

Aren't you the one saying what a ridiculous idea it was when it was brought up about possible trades to dump Cutler and pick up Cousins? I think you also took a jab at Spartan over it?

Go on, impress us some more with your talent assessments!

Yeah but it's late and I'm bored. Plus I was responding to BF51, not Mongo.

You're not advocating for the Bears to have gone after Kirk Cousins, are you? Because that seems like a terrible idea.

Yep and its still a stupid fucking idea. Cousins has sucked worse than Jay most of his career. How about we draft a QB instead of praying a trade or FA works for us?
