Ill agree that Norm Van Lier deserves his number retired...He spent most his adult life as a dedicated part of the Bulls orginization......He should at least have a statue like Red Kerr.....

I have the guy's autograph. Where is the Horace Grant, Toni Kukoc, Artis Gilmore, and Norm Van Lier apprecaition threads? They were all hear much longer than Rodman and they deserve it more. I personally don't think they deserve one either.

It is never a good thing to hang a guy's jersey up for your team when it wouldn't have happened if he wasn't so popular. He was only here for three years with no all-star appearances. The Bulls would hurt their legacy by retiring his jersey.

Agreed.

3 years of service (albeit good years) doesn't warrant retiring a jersey.

But 3 rings doesnt? Kukoc at PF equals no rings in the late 90s.

The retire Norm Van Liers number campaigns begins NOW!!!!!!
When the Bulls wwere unwatchable from 99-2002, the only reason I watched them was to see and here Norms critical opinion...He actually sincerly would be angry and he wasn't scared to say how he felt....in fact he had left for a while and then came back......

Rodman did not win those rings on his own. Toni Kukoc and Ron Harper were the best players on the team after 1997-98. That's hardly a fair basis for comparison.

Kukoc was also there two years prior to Rodman.

Being an idiot media guy, doesnt equal number retired. Otherwise, Red Kerr would be a lock. :oprah:

Retiring a jersey is more so a career type deal, at least to me.

Had he spent more of his career in Chicago, sure. 3 years is not a long time at all to retire a jersey.

Fair enough. To me, its how important you were to the franchise. Dennis rodman is top 3. Enough for me.

If Michael Jordan can have his number retired with an orginization he never played for, then why can Dennis Rodman have his retired for actually greatly contributing to 3 championships in a row.......And for those of you who want to say he wasn't on the allstar team those years, you can't say he didn't deserve to be....He lead the NBA in rebounding during that time.....

Eh dont care about other players. To me, hes a top 100 all time player, who played on a top 5 dynasty of all time.(assuming you seperate early 90s bulls and late 90s bulls). Thats more than enough for me.

Michael Jordan having his # retired by the Miami Heat is just Special person. You can't claim because the Heat made a dumbass move, that Rodman should have his jersey retired.
