although usually i disagree with someone being on the team for 3 years getting their jersey retired, i think rodman is an exception because he made such a profound impact rebounding and defense wise and was really an anchor for helping the bulls win 3 more titles...
That's what I'm saying. He's the exception, not the rule. Besides, who's gonna wear 91 anyway?

You don't bestow such an honor as retiring a number and use "nobody is going to wear it anyway" as a reason...defeats the purpose...

If Rodman wasn't already nicknamed "the worm", the name would fit you perfectly...

Eh dont care about other players. To me, hes a top 100 all time player, who played on a top 5 dynasty of all time.(assuming you seperate early 90s bulls and late 90s bulls). Thats more than enough for me.

Id rank rodman top 30. The reason being is that there 5 main facets of basketball. Scoring, defense, shooting, passing and rebounding. Rodman is arguably the greatest in two of those aspects. Then you factor in the rebounding titles, the defense awards the all nba defense selection and the championships he's won. He'd be higher if he wasn't such a malcontent.

Jordan's concentration wasn't a problem. Year end and year out. And the Lakers didn't 3peat because Magic got hurt in the finals...had nothing to do with concentration.

Errrrr. Wrong. I'm always amazed at how people say the lakers would've beat the pistons in 8 if magic and scott weren't hurt, but fail to acknowledge that the pistons would've beat the lakers in 88 if thomas hadn't gotten injured.

I guess being the best rebounder in Bulls history means nothing to some.....Not to mention the things he did to help win games that didn't show up in stats...DENNIS RODMAN IN MY BOOK SHOULD HAVE HIS NUMBER RETIRED AT THE UC.....NONE OF YOU CAN CHANGE MY MIND...IIM JUST THAT DAM STUBBORN...
Exactly. Some of these guys need to go back and watch the 96 finals. Jordan and pippen shot terrible that series. Its was rodmans defense and record setting rebounding that got the bulls the championship in 96.

And for those that will say kemp had a great series.... he did statistically, but a lot of his pts were scored when the bulls had the game well in hand

Rodman frustrated kemp and force him into a lot of TOs to boot. A strong case can be made that rodman probably should've won the finals mvp.

he'd be in the top 50 if it was redone. I can tell you right now hed trump james worthys career. Easily.

You gotta remember the top 50 was done in 96. Before rodman had won 3 more championships and rebounding titles. And he was really looked down upon when he first joined the bulls.

ehhh... he was fairly weak in shooting and scoring overall

thats the issue with me putting him in the top 30..is the fact that he was never even close to being a reliable offensive option(not a knock on him necessarily..but thats just the type of player)...his rebounding and defensively abilities are unquestionable(i would like to also think that rebounding should contribute to offensive and defensive abilities,ex. good defensive rebounder can/should correspond somewhat to the defensive abilities of the player..as well as the other side..that being said..rodman was still not a great offensive player)

anywho, his defensive and rebounding abilities were undeniably important in helping the bulls win titles..not to mention..he was a great defensive anchor on those bad boy pistons teams as well

i think rodman is arguably a top 50 player

My favorite teams
  1. Chicago Cubs
  1. Chicago Bulls
  2. Golden State Warriors
  1. Chicago Bears
  1. Chicago Blackhawks
Rodman's sole offensive abilities in the NBA (for he was a beast in college...against some top level competition of course :shifty:) were offensive rebounding/tip ins, hustle plays, and jacking up 3s in garbage time. Thing is, I think if Rodman actually cared about things like free throws he would have made far more than 50% or whatever he shot. He could've been a double double player (probably barely getting 10 points, but still) or close to it for a lot of his career. Then what would we say?

I'm amazed that people try to give a history lesson and don't have a damn clue concerning the context in which Magic's injury was being used.

My point was the Lakers not 3peating wasn't about a lack of concentration, it was about injuries. That is what kept them from winning, concentration had nothing to do with it. So acknowledging Thomas' injury the year before is irrelevant.

one time when I was a kid, i was listening to a Bulls game on the radio with my dad on our way to my uncles house. I think he had 19 rebounds in a game, and i was like "whoa". That was small fries compared to what he did rebounding wise with Detroit. single game wise.

I understand your stance that the lakers didn't lose that series due to lack of contration. But they probably wouldn't have had the opportunity to 3pt cuz they probably should've lost to detroit
