People's expectations for athletes are usually pretty unrealistic. In what other profession do people want you to take a pay cut in order to be more successful? Doesn't work like that. It's a business at the end of the day for both the organizations and the players. I used to get caught up in that "for the love of the team/do anything it takes to win" stuff but then I grew up and got a job. Unless I was a superstar with a ton of endorsements who was set for life, I would maximize my earnings and be all about the bottom line. At the end of the day, it's all about the money.
