If and when D-Rose is crowned (but lets be serious), he will be the youngest MVP in history. Will he have a better career than Lebron?...Kobe?

It is possible. That is asking a lot though. We should mention Durant's name, too.

No we shouldn't. Derrick rose is the front runner in the mvp race by a significant margin. There's no one else out there guys. we have the youngest mvp in the league. Let's just hope we're in the playoffs long enough to enjoy it.

When it comes to who's going to have a better career, it is extremely possible that Durant's will be better than Rose's. That's all I'm saying.

Durant already has a scoring title, if you want to go on individual accolades. Who ever wins more titles, i think, decides who has better career

To speculate is one thing, but to make a blasphemous thread title like that before anything is official... I just lost a lot of respect for the vendor. And yes, I'm superstitious about some things.

Well, I think that it's safe to say that if Rose wins the next 5 Finals MVP awards, and averages 25 and 8, even if Durant wins the next 10 scoring titles... Rose will likely have had the better career.

Who cares about Durant right now? The real question posed was will Rose be better than James or Bryant.
I don't think he will, based on the labor uncertainty. Rose is going to be a good player, but he may lose a lot of the supporting cast from this year because the owners want to cut salary.

i think rose is a better player than kobe right now. This season, i'd rad rather have keith and rose than kobe and fischer.

i don't think he has the physical tools to be a better player than james. he's still a really good player though.

HA! This is not a Cubs forum...no curses and superstitions apply with the Bulls...

And to those who blow off Durant presently and for the future is ill-advised. He is as good as any player in the league not named Lebron in my opinion...a legit top 5 player. Durant was already on the pinnacle Rose reached this season...

If Rose does not have as good a career as James or Bryant, it won't be because of any labor problems...that will have nothing to do with it.

If you ask Rose, why the team, and he, is playing so well, hell say, its thanks to his teammates. Rose has a slightly deeper team, than Durant, and yes, to quote houheffna, this aint a Cubs forum, and Rose aint Andre Dawson.

durant is just too one dimensional for me to put him up there...rose at least creates and is part of the best defense in the league. not saying he's an all world defender, but obviously he's not terrible.

Durant is not terrible on defense. And the fact that the one dimension you speak of is the most important dimension in the game...should validate his importance.

It doesn't matter what team or sport, superstitions apply. Ask any player with a routine. Anyways, the point was more about awarding Rose the MVP prematurely. Only 1 person can make that call officially, and that's David Stern, after he announces the results from the league writers vote.

There is a difference between players having their superstitions...and fans. I don't think writers dwell on such superstitions when voting...just don't think it matters...

People have posted many things...one guy posted "The Bulls are getting Lebron" last year...was that superstitious? I don't think so...

I completely agree. I think Rose is far more susceptible to a drop off as compared to Durant due to the higher risk for an injury and the greater reliance on athleticism. When Durant slows down he'll still be a 6-10 sharpshooter and Rose will be a 6-3 guard who won't be unguardable w/o his crazy explosiveness. This is down the line, but Durant is very likely to be a top 5 player longer than Rose will be even though I think Rose is slightly better right now.

I didn't care what people said about LeBron in that strawman analogy.
But handing Rose the award that he hasn't earned. This individual sells T-Shirts, why not sell Chicago Bulls 2011 NBA Champions shirts? Beat everyone to the punch! Makes just as much sense to me, as claiming Rose to already winning the MVP.

If he don't make the shirts, someone else will, for every championship tshirt sold, there is one burned of the losing team...nothing superstitious about it. If Rose doesn't win the award, it won't be because some guy called him MVP on a forum in Chicago...

This is not like the Miami Heat celebration...which actually might affect MVP votes and has turned some of the media against them...THAT is a dumb move that sends the wrong message. And even that is not a curse...its just a dumb move.
