Engelland has no disciplinary history per his tsn profile. Targeting Kruger's head while leaving his feet gets him 2 games.

Updated the video in the main post to a better one.

I like how Scott was campaigning to the officials about how bad the noncall was as he was ushered off the ice.

That dude is one hell of a teammate.

I always saw Engelland as a tougher guy with an edge but not dirty.

Did he learn this shit from Cooke?

Stupid hit, my guess is 2 games.

Textbook case of enforcing by Scott.

Great job! Now if the refs would have done theirs.....

Gene, you really are a character.

I am sure Toews chewed Scott's ass for costing his team the game.

Who cares about his talent level, he's not here for his talent hes here for his character and a bit of glue for the locker room.

Well, he is here for his talent in a way.

He seems to have a talent for enforcing.

That hit was horribly illegal, was satisfying to see that pussy leave the ice bleeding though. Good for Scott, did exactly what he needed to do.

I say at least a game for that hit, when defenseman leave their feet its never a good thing. Every now and then you see a forward, but D men its just a no no. And the instigator rule is about as cool as Flo from the Progressive commercials.

Here is where I am highly confused. Where was the holding and slewfoot penalty on Dupuis, and how in holy hell did Scott get the instigator? Both threw the gloves off at the same time and before any punches were thrown.

Also if Kreuger stayed on the ice a penalty on sirhitstoohigh would have been called.

Oh and good job by Scott.

Under the rules the NHL has in place, it'll never amount to anything good tangible on the ice. You'll be hit with the instigator. The thing that goes unnoticed all the time and that no one talks about, is the fact that the dirty hit occurred in the first place. Even with Scott on the ice. The argument always goes that things like that don't happen with guys like Scott on the team. It's just not true. There was another hit later with Neal leaving his feet to hit Keith as well. Scott doesn't stop that shit from happening, doesn't work that way anymore.

EXACTLY....having Scott on the team IS not and WILL not keep this from happening. While I applaud Scott for what he did (and his overall play during the game (he prevented a 2 on 1 with a good stick), his place on this team is questionable at best. We clearly had a good start to the game which was negated by the Engelland hit and subsequent PP goal. That being said, we were clearly in the box WAY too much for the first two periods and didn't wake up until the third.

...textbook case of enforcing by Scott.

Great job! ...

See, that's just bullshit. If it was "textbook" enforcing, this wouldn't keep happening....but IT DOES. Clearly the addition of Scott FOR THE PURPOSE OF PREVENTING THIS SHIT has FAILED.

Engelland was invisible physically for the rest of the night in case anyone didn't notice.

Oh well... HATERS GONNA HATE!

The only thing I regret aboot the Scott fight is that he didn't absolutely destroy dingleberry. I wanted to see a KO or busted face. Instigator rule sucks. Agree with Grimson. Get rid of the instigator, let the players police themselves.

This was exhibit A as to why the instigator needs to go. The asshole refs didn't even call a penalty on the hit after calling every ticky-tack hook on the Hawks and let Engelland just skate away. A two game suspension only benefits the next two teams that play Pittsburgh.

If they won't even give Engelland 2 minutes for the hit, someone's gotta dish out punishment. Good thing we have Scott and Mayers for that.

The funny thing is (for those who are whining about Scott going in there and taking the instigator penalty) if Scott DIDN'T do that... those same people would be calling for his head for not sticking up for a teammate.

Scott did his job. The bad part was the PK let one in after he took the 2+5+10. If they kill that, it changes the dynamic of the game. Then again, the refs were stoping play constantly during the 1st and 2nd, which benefitted the Pens. The 3rd was wide open, without many stoppages-which swung the game towards Chicago. If the first two periods were called the same a the 3rd, Hawks win easily.

I have not been the strongest Scott supporter-- but he's earned his keep the past couple of games. He may have gotten tagged with 17 PIMs, but the players probably gave him praise during the first intermission.

Hope Kruger is okay. Hope playing the remainder of the 1st doesn't make it a lingering problem. Hope dingleberry gets an extra game or two for causing an injury.

Can we expect Pirri to get a call up?

I would love to hear how refs are penalized for their lack of enforcement on the ice and how they can miss such a blatant call.

There should be an announcement from Shanny about the assessed penalty/ fine/ suspension on Engelland AND an announcement as to how the ref situation is being addressed!

I can't believe anyone in here is upset that Scott pounded Engelland's face. Seriously?

That was a dirty hit and he deserves a suspension. Scott did the right thing. The reason we didn't look the same after that was because we got royally screwed by the refs. We should have been on the PP. Not the other way around. We lost all momentum. It's not Scott's fault for doing what he was supposed to do.

Also, arguing that Scott is waste of roster space is asinine at this point. He's played well enough to be a 6th d-man on just about any team in this league. How come the people blasting him aren't giving him kudos for preventing that break away last night?
