So why didn't Hester have his best year last year or will that be this year?

Huh? What does that have to do with anything. I never said Hester was a good receiver, just that I could see Cutler being that way.

So why do we care what a middle tier receiver is saying about a middle tier QB again?

No he wasn't a decent WR, he was actually pretty bad at it thought they could have used him better. They needed to justify his salary when they could have simply said we will use him in special packages on offense and HE IS THE BEST FUCKING RETURNER THAT THERE IS, HAS BEEN, AND WILL EVER BE. Devin Hester IS BEAST MODE.

Devin Hester changed how football was played, PERIOD.

Indeed I enjoyed Hester the returner but Hester the offensive or defensive player sucked

Some real ******'s in here. This guy was one of the most electrifying players in modern Bears history, if not THE MOST ELECTRIFYING player. This kid deserves nothing but our respect, no matter how unsuited he is for a WR. The staff made the decision to keep Hester on the offense, not Devin Hester.

Hester is talking about him as a receiver, not return man. Stop getting emotional man!

Totally agree on everything you said in this post. And just as a reminder of how theses douches totally underrate Hester, do you remember when his contract was up and they were saying on here that we should offer Hester league minimum if anything? And they were saying there is no way that any other team would pay him more than that, and of course within a day or two he landed a 3-4 million a year multiyear contract? That just shows right there how much he is under appreciated by some on here.

Of course he isn't the number one receiver the Bears tried to make him. But in Atlanta his role is 3 or 4 right, so what was so bad about his year in Atlanta anyway? He did have 504 yards receiving PIB, so you were wrong on that stat that you quoted that he has not had 500 yards since 2009. Of course he had more yards in a couple of seasons with the Bears, like 700 yds, but they threw to him 57 times, only 38 last year.

Hester won more games for the Bears than anybody currently on the team, that is for sure. Why him and Urlacher get so much shit on here is beyond comprehension.

There's a point in the article that mentions it's woth noting that Hester had his best years as a receiver in Chicago with Cutler; it's also worth noting that no one is shocked that Hester still doesn't know where to line up and still runs the runs the wrong routes.

It does not matter, he is probably right about Jay, even though Devin isn't a good receiver. He doesn't have to be a good receiver to see Cutler's behavior. In fact, it could be argued that Devin probably needed MORE coaching from his QB than a typical WR, and Jay probably didn't do it. COME ON MAN !!!! COME ON !!!

Doesn't look like he said anything bad. Just said Ryan is more helpful and less spiteful. Everybody knows Jay's a prick and horrible teammate anyway.

If I remember correctly, Hester was holding out for a higher pay, the Bears felt in order to justify higher pay he need to be a WR also.

I am sure that was part of it. But virtually everybody wanted Hester to be a WR except for Hester until he finally agreed. Lovie Smith wanted him as a receiver, Rex Grossman publicly said several times he wanted him as a receiver, I wanted him as a receiver as did probably almost everybody on this message board , I would guess. Everybody everywhere was just saying we have to figure out a way to get the ball into his hands more.

You and Jester aren't arguing facts, you are arguing based on emotions which isn't a surprise for you at least. No one is shitting on Hester, they are being honest. Hester was garbage as a WR here and in Atlanta, period but no one is saying anything else bad about him. No one is saying he was a bad player or taking away respect of achievements from him as a Bear. He became the third to fourth option here as well( despite you saying he would be better in Atlanta) So besides being off 4 yards what did I say wrong?

While o agree that Cutler can be a prick and doesn't take away the fact that Ryan hasn't made him better despite coaching him more. His "shot" at Cutler hasn't changed how he plays. GET IT TOGETHER MAN!

Okay, I get it. Bearmick calls you emotional all the time in the Cutler threads, so you figure that will work on me and Jester here when we are just clearly stating our opinions on this matter, which happen to be the views of any sane person.

Yes. But him being a bad receiver has NOTHING to do with him making comments towards Cutler. Some here are taking two completely unrelated variables and acting as if they are related when they are not. Hester is just saying that Cutler didn't bother to communicate and teach. Is that a surprise? It's not to me.
