I am not surprised. They should have around the same number of plate appearances (possibly more for Castro since he's played nearly every day and bats higher in the lineup) but Castro doesn't walk. Dunn is leading in the three true outcome categories and that includes walks. His batting average may be shit but the dude knows how to get on base.

it kinda caught me off gaurd. I think we as fans tend to think that he makes more outs than anyone else because we focus so much on his strike outs. its too bad that there was a wall there in toronto, would have loved to see how far it would actually have gone.

The OBP tells quite the story. Dunn's OBP is like 140 or so points over his batting average, while Castro's is barely over .300 which is terrible. So while he's struck out that much he's still a productive offensive player because he can still get on base despite that deficiency. I think most fans in general don't realize that. Granted the low batting average is annoying but a .340ish OBP is at least average, and the lead in walks and homers is obviously good.

Not surprised since Castro led the league in outs last year during a good season.

Garfien tweeted that "25 of Adam Dunn's 34 home runs have come when White Sox are either down a run or tied." Huge.

yeah not the meaningless HRs when they are up by 6 or down by 6.

I love how his hrs are just flat out bombs and when he swings you think it may be gone but its really really gone.

It's Jake's to lose. And it won't even be close. I don't even think Dunn will get a first place vote for CPOTY. Thru the AS game the National Media thought as much

I respectfully disagree, Jake has been great and kept us in games all year, but Dunn plays everyday and is an anchor in a very potent (when on) lineup. He is a great run producer, and let's not forget Jake didn't have one of the historically worse seasons in the history of baseball the year before.

The problem is that Dunn isn't having a normal season. In fact this looks to go down to be one of his worst three seasons ever for him. Jake has been one of the glues to hold it all together for the Sox. I gotta find that article around AS break that had the list of candidates. From what I read recently many had Adam third on the team behind Jake and Alex.

Fernando Rodney is another candidate. I really could see Adam not making the top five

And clearly you have no clue how voters vote on this.
