I was considering a Jordan Phillips "sleeper" thread. That kid is a beast. Poona Ford would be a really smart pickup
Good to see you guys watched "First Draft" with Field yates and Mel Kiper. Phillips was Fields' sleeper DT.

PFF also tells us the bears OL is good so no need to upgrade there

This is your angry drunk talking. We only jave 2 starters signed and so there is no reason not to try and get better OL. Why would I sign Shelton if I can get Dalman. Sober up dude.

I'd rather base my football opinions on actual stats and using my eyes rather than pay someone to give me a fake grade

but you do you nerd

Good for you but I dont like getting football opinions from angry drunks. Thanks for sharing though.

He was raw coming in and not asked to use a quick getoff in college. It has gradually improved over the last two years.

Again, the high majority of elite NFL DT's dont get there until year 3 or 4. Similar situation for many NFL offensive tackles.

Jalen Carter is a rare situation where you are elite from day 1.

Dexter was pretty much the only defensive player to improve this past year(him and gordon), so im very high on him considering the circumstances. Prior to billings getting hurt he was on a pro bowl pace.
I didn't see any improvement in his get off, which was the biggest negative he had coming into the draft. I've watched it pretty closely and have talked about it not improving on here each season.

I didnt see that, I was researching DTs and I saw that he had a great shrine bowl. Then I watched

When will you guys jump on my train which has been the sign Milton Williams (Eagles 3T) train for a couple of months now?

If Williams hits FA, I'd be all over him. I think Philly finds a way to keep him while letting sweat, Becton and baun walk though. He feels like the guy they will value most and they probably only have space to keep 1 unless they get creative. I could be wrong though.

Pressures are pretty much a made up PFF stat.
Basically if there's a stat someone uses to try to tell me dexter is a similar player to Carter, its nonsense because I have eyes and the impact isn't in the same stratosphere. It makes me cringe everytime someone mentions their stats together

Hargreaves is washed and would add nothing to this lineup.

That train just got a lot more expensive after the superbowl, so probably not.

PFF(I dont trust that trash) also says he's terrible against the run but an amazing pass rusher.

I havent seen enough eagles and watched this guy, but we def need an upgrade against the run.
Run defense was fine until Billings went down. In 2023, stopping the run wasn’t an issue. The lack of pass rush is still the biggest problem.

Gee, I wonder where this came from?
ESPN does one too but @msadows likes to cry about advanced stats but then uses them when it suits him. To be fair though he has frequent blackouts due to his drinking so maybe he forgets the times he uses them.

I did watch and if i remember right Fields said the guy has zero sacks in like 3 years or some shit like that but said the guy is an absolute disruptor and he loves him.

Wow you think they let Baun get away after the season and playoffs and super bowl he had? I'm not so sure about that but do agree that Howie finds ways to sign the really good ones and think he'll do that with Baun and Williams....unfortunately.

Yeah it's @msadows that keeps coming out with the Dexter vs Carter stats.

How would you explain them being #28 against the run outside of Billings? Seems like a long way from "fine" to me.

I haven't seen one poster say Dexter needs to be replaced. Have only seen people say we need another 3T to play with him.

He is the 3tech, so thats saying he needs to be replaced.

Unless you mean a backup 3 tech

dexter had a better pressure percentage on the season than jalen carter, but he has no twitch now.

Got it peoples! makes sense!

Most DT's dont become stars after 2 years, usually takes 3-4 years. We need another DT but dexter is the 3tech of the future and already a good player.

Get me a giant fat guy in the draft/fa like @DanielCCSBears and use demarcus walker as the other rotational 3tech
He didn't have a higher percentage, but it was close. Jalen did have over 200 more reps though.

Right, I read that but it doesn't make sense to me that they would eat that $15 just to not have him unless he is totally washed, in which case why would the Bears sign him?
Cause they'll do it post June-1st. It'll save them a bit on the cap (I think). I say "I think", cause the part I'm not sure about is the void years. Not sure what years those get accelerated to... next year or the year after. Regardless, your point is valid, which is why I'd just pay him a reasonable number to be a rotational guy. Gervon still rotates snaps and there won't be a ton of teams dying to give out monster contracts in June, so he's a solid vet to add at a reasonable cost to provide part time production. I didn't propose him as some answer to our problems... just a piece to add to a weak depth chart.
