Spring Training just got that much more interesting. I think we need to trust that Maddon of all managers has the ability to get his players plenty of game tick and keep them happy and cohesive.

I just have to be faster than the fat kid when getting chased by a wild animal, and I am faster than a hell of a lot of people on this site......including you.

He is still not a very good shooter. He is about average now. When you said he was a good shooter he was below average. In a year or two he may be good. We will see where he reaches his peak as a shooter. I also never predicted where he would be in 3 years. just he was not a good shooter at the time, and it was true.

AL so, how is that Taj Gibson turning into a good 3 point shooter working out for you. I know you like to pretend I make statements I didn't about your boy. Just not sure why.

Back on topic from that lulzy train wreck of a post, I like this team a whole lot better now. Fowler was the spark plug last year and I gave him shit early, but he came on. Really drove the Cubs second half push.

So Fowler almost certainly leads off right? Previously there had been some debate on Heyward vs Zobrist there but Fowler seems like a shoe in to me.

I would think so. I would think either Zobrist or Heyward would bat second based off match ups

This team has 3 legit leadoff candidates, unbelievable

I would still like to see Heyward leadoff though, hits for a higher average and had a better OPS. I think Zobrist should hit 2. Fowler could possibly hit 9 if Maddon is committed to using that as a 2nd leadoff spot again

That's not even the scary part... if Schwarber does stay with the major league team you have the following triple slashes from last year

Fowler - .250/.346/.411(it's actually down off his career numbers because of his bad start. He's .267/.363/.418 on his career)
Zobrist - .276/.359/.450(career .265/.355/.431)
Heyward - .293/.359/.439(career .268/.353/.431)
Rizzo - .278/.387/.512(career .260/.356/.466)
Bryant - .275/.369/.488
Schwarber - .246/.355/.487
Russell - .242/.307/.389
Soler - .262/.324/.399(career .268/.325/.433)
Montero - .248/.345/.409(career .262/.343/.420)

And that's not to even mention if Baez gets hot. You could legitimately have 6 players with a .350+ OBP. There were only 46 players in the league last year that had .350+ OBP and potentially 6 of the 8 cubs starters might be.

I think Zobrist should hit 7th or 9th. 6th or 9th if Schwarber isn't catching.

I think 9th and 2nd against lefties. I think Russell should be in the 7th spot. If I am the Cubs, I am telling Russell patience. We don't need you to slug. We need you to get on.

This is just more of the same for this team. The only OF'er that will probably play pretty much every day is Heyward. Maddon will be mixing & matching like a mad scientist. I'm guessing that Baez will be in the outfield mix as well.

Javier Baez is now our 5th OF. lol

Cue the rumors, now everyone has Soler and Baez being traded for everything you can imagine. I don't understand the need to trade. You have Fowler for one year. 2 maybe. Zobrist is old as shit. Don't get cute. You still have plenty of specs in the minors. Use them because you don't have any type of impact player coming until 2017 or later.

What does this team need to make a trade for anyway?

People are obsessed with getting a young pitcher. MLB network was talking Julio Teheran. I don't mind a young pitcher, but not now, and I think we could get one with our minor leaguers. I would also think this would be more a deadline move then a right before spring training games move.
