So you would rather have one WS and no more playoff appearances like the Marlins over making the playoffs for ten straight years and winning no WS?

1 WS > 0 all day long. sorry, I am a fan that wants to see championships, not be runners up every year. championships> than anything else. But you stating this is coming from a fan that hasnt seen his team win a world series so I am not surprised by your idiotic philosophy.

i dont hate ya, i like ya, but i lost alot of respect for you in regards to specifically sports.

If they are winning then I agree.

But if my choice is being like the Marlins or having Wrigley and all of its glory I will take Wrigley every time.

If its between being a dynasty like the Braves without a WS (aside from that first one) or Wrigley then I will take being the Braves without Wrigley.

I just don't think ONE WS title and then mediocrity because you won it is worth it to me.

you have never experienced it. you cannot make that statement.

My colts won a super bowl. I look at them no differently now. If they were to start losing a lot I wouldn't be like well that's okay we won a super bowl 5 years ago.

A championship would be great dont get me wrong but I would much rather win consistently then be like the Marlins. Without even hesitating.

but the marlins have won 1 more than the sox and 2 more than the cubs. so im sure if i was a cub fan i would take 2 world series titles since 1997 over being competitive every year.

All I am saying is I would rather make the playlets every year rather than win one WS and miss the playoffs for the next ten years.

The Marlins were also surprisingly competitive this season before Josh Johnson hit the DL and they had some other injuries and brain farts.

The goal of a professional MLB team is to win the World Series, not satisfy a minority of fans' desire to see a perennial winning team in the regular season that can't actually win it all. You have to wonder what the A's fans of the late 80s, the Cardinals fans during their three-pennant run in the 80s as well, or the Atlanta Braves thought about their team always making the playoffs but just coming up short. I'm pretty sure even Yankees fans were ticked off about 2001 and 2003, and losing to the Red Sox in 2004.

I fear poodski's priorities are misplaced here. Yes, we definitely want a consistent winner in order to increase the odds that they get to the playoffs and get a chance to win the World Series, but ultimately we do want them to win it all.

I agree with most of what poods is saying

You build a team that makes it to the playoffs for about a decades worth of time . You increase the chances of winning the big one over going for it all once every decade.

I agree with this; the Cubs have been going about it the wrong way. But to all but say that the championship doesn't matter is wrong, in my opinion.

I never said it doesn't matter. Just not as much as being a perennial winner.

Lets say 2003 went differently Had 8 people not grabbed the ball from Alou or Alex Gonzalez not botched that ball and we gone to he WS and then won the WS. Would that make being a shitty teams in 2005, 2006, 2010 and this year acceptable?

It would have 2004 acceptable and maybe even 2005 but by the end of 2006 the glimmer of winning that world series would be over and we would be wanting another one and losing would not be acceptable. Or no different than where we stand now.

we arent talking about going for it all at once. it is a very general debate. poodski would rather have all the wrigley shit and be competitive than having 1 title and falling off the map. which is just plain stupid

I didn't know where to ask for this but maybe one of you admin types can hunt down all the Ricketts-bashing threads and just merge them all together so we can discuss it.

Congrats. You think it's stupid. I don't. It's your opinion and you are welcome to it as I am mine. I think it's stupid to just want one world series.

Doesn't make either of us right.

1 World Series > than zero world series.

Someone who says they would rather have the girls, and wrigleyville with competing every year without the titles is plain stupid. typical to fall back on that since your team hasnt won in 100+ years.
