When did the Colts take their generational guard? I think it was top 5 🤡

Trade down and get Simmons if Bears want an OL. No way any team drafts a guard that high.
There isn't anyone with the resources to trade up from 13 to 20, unless they agreed to a future pick. Maybe Dallas at 12.

Very low chance for a trade down.

Probably one of the smartest things the bears could do. Get the consensus best player at his position in the draft and get a position of dire need, which likely becomes more glaring when KC maneuvers around and does some cap magic and keeps Trey Smith, which probably involves them moving on from/restructuring a going on 33 year old Joe Thuney to create some cap space.

I’d love to see the melt downs and dick ripping of the same fans who acknowledge the OL is a problem and needs to be fixed, Caleb needs to be protected better and the new HC’s scheme needs better protection, but this is too rich for them, and definitely not sexy enough.

The same fans who, one year ago—taking WR3 at 9 overall was perfectly okay and not a luxury.

my thoughts as well. Don't over think it.

So many people really think we're gonna get Trey Smith lol

Hopefully if that would be the case, they could trade down a few spots and pick up some more value and still get the top guard as a plug-and-play guy.

Maybe I'm missing something here, but what do you mean? If just from 13 to 10, that's achievable with roughly a 3rd. They can figure loose change with swapping around 4ths and 5ths/6ths or something. A trade from 20 would work similarly, but would need to include a 2nd instead. Or, like you said, they can just figure future picks into the move.

The problem is he's nowhere near being a top 10 prospect and probably won't go in the entire first round. Position of need or not, he's a reach at 10. He will be there with the Bears early 2nds, which is still probably a reach. As a very simple critique, there's no world where they should take Booker over KBJ. If he doesn't work at tackle, he moves to guard and will probably be better.

I just look at the resources teams in position to trade actually have, as well as their needs.

Very few teams in the teens have ample resources, and most have needs where giving up a second rounder would really hamper them. Several have only four or five total picks and or no second or third rounder. These are also teams that are mostly just outside the playoffs and aspiring to them, but have several big holes.

I think people also tend to under estimate the difference in most GM's perception of quality talent from 10 to 20, especially this year where it drops fast.

All this is to say that I think a trade down is unlikely.

I think KC will figure out a way to keep Smith as well and the Bears will be out of luck, though I thought Ben Johnson was not coming here so my predictions usually suck

Who cares, if Booker really is the best player on the board and a definite position of need, take him. Maybe if they really do target him, it's in a trade down so we can get the trade down clowns rolling for Ommy
