Josh Simmons is the LT. He had the best tape at that position pre-injury. Covertly has been talked about a lot. I hear his anchor is weak though. Not sure if that’s true-I don’t know that much about him other than that.

Funny because every time I watched josh simmons my eyes went to the guy playing right next to him who looked more impressive

Then i saw he's draft eligible too.

I'm not really a fan of drafting campbell and saying "well if he sucks at tackle make him a guard". Taking a guard at #10 is pretty bad value, I'm guiessing you could trade down into the late teens or early 20's and still get Tyler Booker while netting another 2nd round pick.

That’s what I’ve been saying about taking a G at 10. But so many people on here would be thrilled with say, Campbell at 10. A guy who projects inside at G. A position, coincidentally, he has never played. But in the eyes of many, that would be a home run pick.

I think DL or DE will be BPA, and both are also huge positions of need.
Not everyone thinks he can't play T in the NFL. I know some do but not everyone.

I havent liked him since watching jared verse tape during last years draft and I remembered he was the guy verse shit on.

Now every time i think of will campbell I think of that tape

He seems to be pushed back a lot vs. top NCAA rushers, so the guys who say braxton gets pushed back should love him!

Donovan Jackson is really good, also. Hell, so is Booker. I’m just not sure about the value at 10 at G. But, I think both will be gone before pick 39.

A trade down would be fine, but I’m not sure if this draft will call for that.

I just find it interesting how some would hate Booker as the pick, but then clamor for Campbell, who will probably play G. And Booker is a proven guy at that spot.

You’re right. And I’m not an expert on it, so if he can be a stud LT for a decade, then they should run the card in. I just don’t think most people who projects these guys believe that will be the case with him.

Watch his tape from last year vs. the top edge rushers.

Not pretty

Yeah if Donovan is still on the board once we start getting close to our pick at #39 then any team looking for OL will do what they can to trade up for him knowing the Bears will also be waiting on him more than likely. That goes for any OL that teams have high on their lists. That's of course if any of the team picking before us don't snatch them up first.

This all depends on what the Bears do in free agency of course. If they can get Trey Smith and another legit G or C then teams won't know what the Bears will be doing with those 2nd round picks, or what they do at #10.

Yeah it'll be fun watching what these guys do at the combine.

Who is the best center in the draft and please tell me the Bears will draft him with one of those second round picks. I don’t care if centers go later, stop fuking around please and sort this position once and for all.

Sadly a bad center draft.

PFF's best ranked center in their top 300 is listed at #141 and calebs former teammate at USC(Who everyone said had a terrible OL when he played there?)

I do believe he played left tackle when caleb was there tho, so he might be better at center. No clue, didnt watch much USC this year

High floor, moderate ceiling is not exactly a ringing endorsement for the next bears center tho lol

So, I'm not going to claim that this guy is the best talent evaluator or any type of authority on the subject.

I wouldn't know either way.

He goes over some of his thoughts on this very question.

The Chicago Bears Unique Opportunity This Draft

It's at worst a time passing "Intro to the options 101"

This years stuff starts around the 12 minute mark.

He spends the first 12 minutes talking about last year and other stuff.

I just look at the resources teams in position to trade actually have, as well as their needs.

Very few teams in the teens have ample resources, and most have needs where giving up a second rounder would really hamper them. Several have only four or five total picks and or no second or third rounder. These are also teams that are mostly just outside the playoffs and aspiring to them, but have several big holes.

I think people also tend to under estimate the difference in most GM's perception of quality talent from 10 to 20, especially this year where it drops fast.

All this is to say that I think a trade down is unlikely.
A ton of people love the idea of trading down but no one likes to think about who the other team is trading up for and why they need that player. NFL teams aren’t going to do you any favors, if they don’t have a compelling reason/target to trade up they won’t do it - an unfortunate truth many still need to hear I guess.

I saw his knee injury against Oregon and it looked troubling. It wasn't dramatic but just like his knee gave out under too much bodyweight. I'd rather get KBJ who doesn't have that red flag.

He seems slow-footed to me. Plodding. I’m not a fan of his. I think this is just a bad draft for too-tier LT prospects, imo. FA will help in knowing what direction they may go at 10.

This is an absolutely crazy feeling for me, but with this staff. Anyone they pick I will be happy with. If it seems like a reach, or I don’t “like it”. I’ll just assume they know better than me (as long as it’s D or O line).

I don’t trust Poles, but I’m sure whoever Ben Johnson wants, Ben Johnson gets. It’s not even warranted to give him trust drafting yet, but I just do. It’s a good feeling. It almost makes me forget who owns this team. I hope it doesn’t go away.
