The lions were still in it —- until BJ got the bright idea to have a WR pass the ball. Interception. The Dub’s score. Game over.

That was the backbreaker

You learn a lot about people and coaches by what they do IN CRUNCH TIME. That was BJ’s Eberflus moment of not calling a time out with the clock running out.

That decision was disqualifying. Even Troy Aikman called him out for that decision.
They were down 10 and their defense hadn’t been able to stop Daniels. The game wasn’t over, but Detroit was desperate for something big. If Williams throws that out in front of the receiver, we might be talking about how the touchdown was just what the lions needed. His trick plays had been working up to that point. That lateral to Monty then forward pass to st brown was genius.

And that’s the rub. You can talk all day long about bad coaching. Look. If Williams was dropping absolute dimes on 50 yarders, coaching be damned it would have looked a lot better than that.

And now you’ll have people wanting kingsbury, and that’s great, but unless Daniels is coming with him, its probably going to look more like Arizona than like that
It wasn’t a great play call, but you see that from a lot of good play callers. Not every offensive play call can be a gem. Even Reid makes mistakes like that.

BJ is not my top choice but I can live with him. I do think there is a very real possibility that he could bust — or boom. Huge risk factor with him.

The safer pick — the most natural pick— to me, is Kliff. I mean, he did it with a bunch of different QB’s and had/has them playing at elite levels. Plus Caleb has a relationship with him. The only time Kliff had trouble with a QB was with a young Kyler who did not always have his head in the game.
Yea I think the NFL might be missing the boat with him. Remember how Slowik was a hot candidate last year with Stroud lighting it up and Kliff doesn't even seem to be getting the same type of attention Slowik was last year despite already having head coaching experience to build on as well. There must be something about his personality or something that puts people off.

So 9-8 instead of a possible 14-3 because the coach could also go 3-14? Do you hear yourself? The stuff you're saying is pretty ridiculous. If the commanders had lost, it sounds like you would hate kliff

The play call was risky, and Williams should have never thrown the ball. Detroit's offense is well-coached, and I haven't seen many instances where the players don't execute their assignments. If you look at the way the play was blocked, Williams doesn't appear to have a run option, so his two options were either throw to a wide-open Gibbs or throw the ball out of bounds. Sainristil had Gibbs well-covered and made a great play on the ball. If you go back and look, the design of the play was excellent, especially as a counter to the 63-yard touchdown by Willams on a similar design. The "trick plays" are part of Johnson's offense, and he calls multiple during a game. This one didn't work

I'm rewatching the game right now. Goff easily missed two TDs, one resulted in a pick that was a great play by the DB, and then threw an absolute horrendous pick 6. He was even worse than I thought initially

Goff played his worst game of the year, kind of like Darnold. But I think Darnold had a lot more pressure in his face....Goff just missed on several fairly easy throws. That said, the Redskins controlled the ball and the Lions defense couldn't ever get off the field. Even if Goff plays well, Washington still probably wins. Imagine if the Bears had hired Quinn and Kingsbury and drafted Daniels.

People aren't talking about the reverse that put them back into the game after Goffs pick 6. Johnson clearly knows how to use his personnel

No, of course not. But there are things called tests in life —- it’s tests that show your mettle —- that show what you are truly made of.

This was his test. Highest stakes. #1 seed. Season on the line. And what did he do?? Has a WR throw the ball.

That’s what I am talking about. Some guys come up clutch and think clearly in those moments. While other guys do the Eberflus as time ticks down.
This post is just ridiculous.

Maybe if Glenn actually had his side of the ball play defense, things would be different. Reference to my other post. Lions were down 10 and they had absolutely no chance at stopping Commanders offense.

You sitting here blaming Johnson for one bad play call down 10 points, when his entire season of play calling was excellent is straight up foolish.

Lions def replacements finally caught up to them.

Also, I still wouldn’t make any proclamations about Daniels vs CW. It’s year 1.

Dan Quinn/KK are a much better coaching combo though. That was a miss there. Fortunately there’s a chance to fix that this off season.

Chances that Johnson runs it back with the Lions again? I think most of the offense will return.

Bears have no chance of winning anything with the worst GM in NFL history. Zero chance.

I think it's over. I doubt Glenn gets a job anywhere else but Johnson will leave to be a HC.
