I have flown a lot for business in the past, not so much anymore. Being able to fly is a miracle and something billions of people before you couldnt even imagine. 150 years ago it took 6 months to go from Chicago to SF and there was a good chance you would die. Now it take 5 hours. It has opened up the world for millions.

I grew up in and around planes, never had a problem with them. Then for a few years, every time I was in the air, I would have a moment where I was convinced we were going to die. Then it went away. Just finished 2 14-hour flights. I'm told somebody expressed the hope that I would crash on one of those flights -- very classy -- but we made it!

this. i have had bad and worse experiences over the years, but wtf? I got to get flown almost 100 times and didn't have a cray german kill errbody? That's efficient transport

I'm terrified to fly after all these recent crashes, and now supposedly someone on the ground can hack the planes system and maneuver it all they want...truly scary stuff.

But if you can get past all that it isn't bad at all, kinda like riding in a very very tall car. Once you're above the clouds and everything is sunny it is truly beautiful.

I also want to say that pilots are seriously overworked and vastly underpaid. At times it has to be a unbelievably stressful job. You have the task of piloting thousands of people a year under your care. When I fly I like the pilots who make jokes over the intercom. It let's me know he's not stressed and he's as loose as a goose. Makes the flight that much easier.
