You got jokes but is kind of a fucked up industry. My bro committed himself to this since the age of 14 and is still facing a potential pay cut because of a merger and despite a spotless record. But he loves it and goes and flies ww2 bombers and does aerobatics in old Yugoslavian planes on his days off. You can't just luck your way into flying a shit-ton of people around (At least for the majors in the U.S.), you have to have the hours logged, simulator time, and record to prove it, so there's that. That said, he'd be the first to tell you that he makes out pretty well, as he should.

you do know my pet is a cat, right? I feel like we don't know each other any more. You might, however, be chuffed to know that Kim-Jong Il passed on his love for Eric Clapton to both his sons.

Yes, we were talking about your obese cat so we do know it's a cat. I just like to post pics of dogs flying airplanes. Got a problem with that?

I don't have a huge problem with flying but it is scary to think that all it takes is the tiniest thing to go wrong and you could be fucked.

The backup systems and shit for planes is astounding. If both engines go out you can chill in the air for a bit and safely land still

Just call papa Johns and land on some BACON STUFFED IN A CRUST.

See, I don't think that's funny. My brother had a regular route to tel aviv that had to to divert due to missile threat with hundreds of you ingrates onboard

They are. If the rudder goes out planes can actually be steered by increasing/decreasing power to one engine. If you needed to turn right you could decrease the power to the left engine and the plane would (slowly) turn right.

I grew up in and around planes, never had a problem with them. Then for a few years, every time I was in the air, I would have a moment where I was convinced we were going to die. Then it went away. Just finished 2 14-hour flights. I'm told somebody expressed the hope that I would crash on one of those flights -- very classy -- but we made it!

How was the trip? I didn't see such a post, but would've put a curse on that person if I had and was into voodoo.
