You do know that he is asking alot, so why even state that? Do I need to be more specific in the poll adding "money factor"?

I bet alot of people that want pujols(not just on CCS) but across the city will change their tune about PEDS, and age if he does not come to the cubs.

Now lets look at this in black and white.

Say he gets what he wants.

The cubs will have 48 million tied up on two players for pujols first 3 years of his deal.

So now you have Left Field and 1b taken care of (granted soriano doesnt get hurt) plus 5 for Penas nice little deal when he wont be here. That is 53 million, and still only 2 players.

The cubs will need:

2B
3B
RF----unless it is colvin
CF----1 year you will have byrd on the books, after that you will need a CF, Plus I doubt Byrd repeats last years numbers in 2012.

Garza
SP
SP
SP
SP

and a shored up BP.

Lets not be delusional here guys, Pujols does NOT make you instant title winners. There will be alot of holes to fill with little money if they get pujols.

2B From what I hear, Barney has become Colvin 2.0. So maybe not.
3B Or Vitters could pan out.
RF----unless it is colvin Jackson
CF----1 year you will have byrd on the books, after that you will need a CF, Plus I doubt Byrd repeats last years numbers in 2012. Colvin

Garza
SP Cashner
SP Wells
SP Not sure
SP Not sure

and a shored up BP. A nice BP, yes.

I responded in the quote.

I don't give a shit about PEDs. I don't see how it changes anything. As far as his age, it all depends on the length of the contract, which you never specified.

You mention Soriano as an injury risk; why not Pujols? He is just as much of an injury risk as Soriano.

It's not going to be that much of a stretch for Byrd to repeat his numbers in 2012. He's been basically the same player the last 4 years.

In case you haven't noticed, we have quited a few minor leagers who can fill many of these spots.

Lastly, a lot of holes with little money? We're talking about at least 80 million. That's not exactly little money. Plus, a lot of these aren't holes. You are saying that the Cubs resign no one and that our minor leagues are literally not productive at all. Neither of those will happen at all.

I don't think anyone is saying he will make us WS champs, but he makes us contenders for about 5 years and that gives us a very good chance at winning at WS.

I'm not sold on "very good". But all you have to do is make the playoffs, the 06 Cardinals and 2009-2010 Flyers showed that. And he will make us the class of the NL Central.

And with the possibility of Expanded Playoffs... we have even better chances of making it in.

You would be wrong. I misread it, I apologize for not being perfect.

Whether or not he comes here or not, I don't give a shit about them. I don't give a shit that Sosa used them. I don't give a shit that Bonds used them. I don't give a shit that McGwire used them. No matter where he goes, it's not going to change how I feel about them. However, you may be right when you say many people will change their feelings.
