just taking the pulse of the fans on how they feel right now. Try not to just base everything off of the media, take all variables to make your opinion.

Nah. It'd be nice, but I think they're in stealth rebuild mode.

I think its logical. To us (because we don't really have anyone else to fill the void at 1B)

I don't know how logical it is to him or to what other offers he's gotten.

Prince wishes to stay to the east of the Mississippi river. That's something that people are forgetting. The Mariners probably won't be able to offer him enough to completely uproot and go 2,000 miles west.

The Mets can't afford him (and still have Ike Davis), the Phillies have Howard, the Marlins are spending money they don't have, and the Braves have Freeman. That leaves the Cubs in the NL.

To me, it's almost a process of elimination...in combination with the fact that the Cubs have the pressing need for a power hitter in the lineup (we have NO ONE now that Ramirez is in Milwaukee), and that there won't be a FA hitter like this for many years...

I've always said no. It's possible. But I still say he won't be. Unless it on like a 4 or 5 year deal. I'd be really surprised if Theo handed out a 10 year deal.

Honestly..right now. I think Theo is letting the market cool. If Prince really only wants to play east of the Mississippi then that narrows the options down a ton. And frankly none of those teams are going to go 10 years $200-250 million. There's really not another team out there with the funds available to do that who need/have room for Prince except maybe St. Louis, the Cubs...and.?

Theo is slow playing the hand right now. He doesn't want to go 10/200-250 so he's not going to. If Fielder goes elsewhere Theo shrugs and moves on. If the market cools and the length of contract drops I could see Theo re-entering this thing at around 5 years 100-125.

Smart move by Theo. Either way he's able to move on with his plan. Obviously having Fielder will be nice but it's going to be within the framework Theo wants. That's how smart teams are run.

STL is technically west of the Mississippi.

Well aware......

I really doubt a mile will matter.

Plus East St Louis isn't.

Fielder is black. He'll live there.

Not the question that he would live there..

Will the Cardinals even offer him a contract?

I am not holding my breath. Like Rice said we are rebuilding. All we have signed/acquired so far are average to below average players.

The Cubs are desperate and there idea of drafting talent took a hit and they have nothing to trade.

Desperate situations lead to results.

I vote YES.

I voted yes because it will help make this club watchable/interesting/entertaining while they are bad and it's completely realistic Fielder will still be in his prime when they're ready to contend.
