Why is it dumb to acknowledge to track almost picks? I explained in the OP that I became interested in the almost pick after how much airtime and message board time was devoted to talking about McCown's near interceptions.

The truth is that the near int often shows a bad throw that goes unpunished. It is like the grooved fastball that gets hammered foul, its a warning that you got lucky.

Because you can't keep track of both and add them up like Jaws does. How many of those near INTS came before actual INTs? To say he could have 20 is stupid, because if some of those dropped INT had not been dropped, some of the actual INT might not have happened. As for why you track almost INTs, it was dumb when people were doing it to McCown and it still is dumb. To bash "Cutler Homers" and then use one of their dumb rationales is stupid.

We'll just have to disagree.

Ron Jaworski is right in everything he wrote, except this of course: "Jaworski didn’t heap all the blame on Cutler, though. He pointed to the offensive line is the biggest problem.

“I think No. 1 is it starts with the offensive line,” Jaworski said. “That’s been the biggest issue all season long in Chicago. There isn’t a quarterback in this league that can complete a high percentage of passes when he’s moving in the pocket, avoiding pressure, throwing off that back foot, falling backwards after throws, taking hits. It’s hard to be consistent.”

What a tool he is, offering up excuses for Cutler.
Wow, Jaws more ignorant than I remember.

Still blaming the o-line for Cutler being Cutler is fucking silly. Because you know, QBs never have to "move in the pocket" or "avoid pressure." And "throwing off that back foot, falling backwards after throws, taking hits" couldn't possibly be the result of Cutler's shitty mechanics, total lack of pocket awareness/presence, total lack of anticipation and timing, general inability to execute an O on an efficient basis, and let's not forget his penchant for holding the ball for all goddamn eternity rather than getting it to one of the open receivers he's somehow failed to notice.

This word 'objective' you're using here is misplaced on this board. The 'objective' is to bash Cutler any way one can.

So what do you do if after a dropped ball, dropped td or bad call that brings back a td an almost int happens? Do you then not count the almost int bc if you count the dropped completion then the almost int wouldn't happen? Do you subtract actual ints bc right before an almost td happened and subtract actual tds bc before an almost int happened?

Oh it's all complete silly bs.

I'd prefer that Cutler threw more virtual INT's as the Bears are driving down the field instead of the real deal INT's

I'd say the dropped INTs, I think Trestman has vaccinated him for record setting TD performance

This is about dropped interceptions bro. Don't shit on this thread, which has REAL stats, with your subjective bullshit.

Here is a running tally for this year. Feel free to correct or add in the thread.

1. McKelvin in OT right in the chest (WK 1)
2 Cox drop on overthrow into double coverage in 2Q (Wk 2)
3. Bethea drop on lofted ball into double coverage in 3Q (WK 2)

Now that Jay has his own forum I am reviving my dropped INT thread. I said I would keep the tally so here it is. I was on the road and watched week 4 on a tablet by a pool so I may have missed something. I am only counting flat out two handed drops by DBs.

4. Jets DB dropped a classic funball/arm punt (wk3)
5. Carolina corner with the nice break but refused to catch the ball that he had in both palms (wk 5)

6. The normally sure handed Sam Shields drops a likely pick six that floated into both hands.
7.#34 drops the basket int. wk 9
8. Mason Foster dropped an easy tipped int that came right to him deep in Bears territory. Dumb luck for the Bears.
