I wouldn't. the pharmacy forgot to give me one of my pain meds (the stronger one) the dr had prescribed after my 'roid surgery so I was basically just taking tylenol and I thought I was going to die the second day

roid surgery? As in hemroid?

Yup. I was still out of it after the surgery when we went to the pharmacy so I didn't know they missed giving me one of the meds on the drs script. They called me on the third day and said "oops your pain meds are ready for pickup" so I was very happy to hear it

True. When I was a kid I had a dentist that was incompetent. He put braces on my teeth and I wore them for 2 years. But he over tightened them and my mouth bleed all the time. I just got used to the pain and was able to block it out. Back then you just did what doctors told you and never questioned them. Neither did my father. I'm not bragging about this. It's just something I have developed over the years. Like I said root canals and wisdom teeth no pain killers
I once had to go make press calls for my (then) job immediately after having a cavity filled. I said no novacaine and they argued but gave in. It wasn't bad. The problem with anesthesia is it's an insult to your nervous system and just one more thing you have to recover from. Never had anything like root canal but if I had to I'm sure I'd let them knock me out for it.

Knocked out? Why would you need anything more than a shot?

I just had my wisdom teeth out and had them put me under because I have some serious anxiety issues when it comes to medical or dental procedures. Also was given Hydrocodone for the following recovery.

As for whatever they used to put me under, it caused a lot of gaps in my memory for the following day and according to the person who stayed w me and took me home, I was very angry after I woke up and told her it hurt and that I was awake the whole time. I was fairly grouchy for no reason until I came off of whatever that was.

The hydro was given to me and I was told to take 2 if needed. I only did that once or twice because it made me so high it was ridiculous. I just laid there, wanting to go to sleep but also wanting to stay awake because I felt so nice. After I realized that, I quit taking it because my mom is a serious pillhead and I do not wanna go down that road.

Only other thing I like to do is smoke every couple weeks or so. Used to do it everyday but I felt that I lost appreciation for the joy in the high. Now I just do it socially really.

Don't know much about root canal. Just figured if someone's cutting my mouth open and hitting nerves it might be hard to stay relaxed?

Root canal involves no cutting. It's sticking various sized threaded pins into the nerve socket and essentially pulling the nerve out

I forgot I had three days in Amsterdam - Did I tell you the one about the Tram, the Pizza and the Van Gogh museum?

or

Did I tell you the one about the Rose, the Beach, the Indie pub, Eden (in Ibiza) and the small human being in a gimp mask?

The problem with Root Canals is the tooth is usually already infected, hence the need for a Root Canal in the first place. Along with the infection goes pain and sensitivity BEFORE the Dentist gets started digging the root out of the hole he drilled down the center of the tooth. By the time he reaches the infected nerve, the pain is very intense and you're squirming from the pain. The chance of you moving while the dentist is drilling is increased by the reaction to the pain thereby reducing his effectiveness...That's why you need an anesthetic. I had one done, and once the anesthetic wore off, look out!

That being said, I can't say someone didn't have one without the drugs, but I would be very surprised if they did..Next Dentist visit, Imma going to ask my Dentist if he ever did one without pain killers

As I said before, It's not a brag, but just pain tolerance I developed as a teenager dealing with a butcher of a dentist. For some reason I just dont feel pain in my mouth and I have had a lot of dental procedures.

I did have another dentist friend that said he had a similar patient. He was an army officers I remember, not that that matters

All I can say is I hope I never get to find out whether I can do it without anesthesia or not.

Yeah no way. I had one last year and since I was so terrified, I guess I caused my body to burn the anesthetic off quickly. After we got through the first hour, I had to have more. I could feel him driving the pins into my jaw through the roots. Not fun!

I had a root canal. I was kind of nervous beforehand because everyone said it was pretty painful... but I actually didn't find it to be all that bad. It wasn't pleasant, but it wasn't that bad either.

I had a root canal that was painful. I think maybe he didn't give enough anesthetic at first because I felt damn near everything. After a few mins I had a chance to talk and told him that it was very painful so he gave me some more.

I can't imagine sitting through a whole one with no medicine at all. Maybe I'm just a wimp. Not as tough as my wife. She had our last two kids without epidural or major pain medicine. Just minor pain medicine in her IV. It didn't seem fun.

Versed is my friend... One of, if not my most favorite of pre surgery drugs. Sadly, I've had to experience it more times than I care to admit, 4 times over the last 7 years. Good stuff, wife (a surgical RN, she circulates in the OR in the main trauma center in WNC) tells me my eye's glaze over almost immediately.

But on a more serious note: http://video.foxnews.com/v/31422683...hilip-seymour-hoffman-has-died/#sp=show-clips

The most vivid, technicolor, and freaky dreams I have ever had were while wearing a nicotine patch. Those dreams are what I thought dropping acid would be like when I was young... Sadly the nicotine patch dreams were 10 times better than that acid trip was.

This isn't what it sounds like. Well, I guess it is. I enjoy reading Erowid.

But also, last year I was given Versed/Midazolam for a surgical procedure and it fucked me right up for a good 3 months. Not only could I not remember anything from during the procedure (which is the point of it), but had memory lapses and the most vivid dreams of my life for those next 3 months, to the point that I couldn't shake the "ontological anxiety" of the dream for a good hour or more after I woke up (kept wondering if it was real).

What was your most intense, pleasant, or fucked up drug experience (legal or illegal)?
