Dirk is soft, most Euro players are.

However, he is one of the top players in the league and cant get it done in a variety of ways.

seriously rami? dirk is a bad defender as well. garnett averaged 14 and 7 if you didn't know. duncan averaged 18 and 10 and is on the wrong side of his career. pau gasol is made to look increasingly good because he plays next to kobe. stoudamire doesn't play defense at all, people have said it multiple times.

chris bosh plays with enough defensive intensity that dirk will not have to do anything. chris bosh is the best player on his team. and really the only piece that anyone would really want on the whole raptors roster. chris bosh had a starting lineup of calderon who's never proven anything, belleneli who's basically a spot up shooter, turkoglu who's robbing the franchise, him and barngani who has no defensive ability. chris bosh, especially as a second option, could contest for best power forward ever. right now who would you say that was? duncan? nowitzki? bird? bosh has the potential to be better than all three.

I honestly stopped reading at soft...Dirk and soft belong in the same sentence. You disagree? Youre not watching the same player I am.

Dirk has repeatedly choked in the playoffs with teams with plenty of talent on them, both against good(Heat 06) and bad(Warriors 07) teams.

The only 2 players on that list who I wouldnt call soft are TD and KG. That's it. Gasol is soft. Bosh is soft. Stoudemire is mentally soft. Dirk is soft, but probably the least "soft out of all those top PFs I just listed.

Imo, Dirk > Bosh on defense and scoring. Not on rebounding, but Dirk gets 8-9 so that won't be a good issue with guys like Noah/Gibson/Deng around.

Dirk has also become one of the top clutch finishers in the game today. No doubt about that either. It's not 2007 anymore.

dirk is the definition of soft. i've never seen him even attempt a dunk. it's all jumpers.

just because you shoot jumpers doesn't mean you're soft. trust me. i live in dallas. he has no defensive ability. even dallas fans admit it.

ben gordon is just as good of a clutch player as dirk. but we let him go didn't we.

so is KG but he is pretty good still.

he really isn't anymore. he got 22 point game and that was a HUGE deal for him. and don't throw defensive at me. perkins is really their anchor on defense now.

I would argue that Rondo is, but thats a different topic.

Dirk is a top clutch finisher during the regular season, until the playoffs come around and he cracks under pressure.

1st like daddies said, hes old. I also agree with what Bullsman said.

No matter which way you twist it, rebounding matters despite which great rebounds surround you. You could argue that Dirks #s are lower because he takes more perimeter shots.

Bosh is also right there with Dirk in scoring. Bosh probably has the quickest 1st step amongst PFs and a great high post game, mid range game. He cant shoot 3s like Dirk but we can get that through our future SG(hopefully). Bosh is a better defender. The only thing i question is his winning attitude but he had a team full of losers right there with us until the last game of the season.

And again, Dirk is just old.

well i think that rondo is a very risk taking defender. he can rely on his post defenders to cover him up just in case.

He's not leaving Dallas IMO. Mark Cuban's pockets are too deep and he loves Dirk too much for him to leave.

IDK about that, he has really choked in the playoffs and hast done nothing ever since reaching the finals. plus his age is a factor too. i rather have a guy like bosh.

Dirk is a championship possibility? I dont agree but if he were, it would give us a 3 year window. Bosh is good for another decade.

Karl Malone was the best PF ever, and I have no doubt of that in my mind. Bosh isn't that good... he's like a poor man's 2004 KG. He doesn't play with enough intensity on the defensive end. He isn't a good shot-blocker. He's a great offensive rebounder and that's how he gets most of his high-percentage shots. He takes too many outside shots as well for a PF. I guy like Stoudemire or even Boozer would serve us better on offense because both of those guys are pick-and-roll/low-post scorers - who can hit the 15 foot shot as a secondary weapon. Bosh likes to face you up and take you off-the-dribble, and is all over the place.

I think that all the current top PFs in the NBA has flaws. KG & TD are the best on defense but they are aging. Stoudemire, Nowitzki, Bosh, and Boozer the best scorers but none are good on defense...and the 2 best scorers (Nowitzki are Stoudemire) will only get you 7-9 rebounds.

Pau Gasol looked lost vs the Celtics in 2008, and got punished by Perkins. But honestly, I think that he is actually the most fundamentally-sound PF in the NBA. He may be a little soft, but he is naturally a finese type of player. Plus, I think that he has continued to improve since '08. It is unfair to say that Gasol only looks good because of Kobe... hell- Kobe looks better because of Gasol. I'm not saying he's the best PF, but that's just a bit unfair to imply that Kobe made him who he is. Before Pau, LAL as getting bounced by PHX every year. Pau puts up monster stats in a balanced, deadly offense... not easy to do.
