The names that you bring up-- how many are not posting because of the conditions of your original post?

Bri - For some odd reason, she thinks I dislike her. Not the case. I have commented on some of her posts, and she has severely overreacted to my comments. None of my comments were meant in ill.

Fanof19 - Not sure why he's not here.

Eruns - He found Twitter, and that's where he lives now.

Agenthehe - Never posted here much anyway. He's been posting of facebook.

GoBucky - Usually partnered up with agenthehe-- also on facebook

Mill500 - Twitter

Stu - Health issues-- she's been quiet on all social media fronts

Sarah Spain - got a job at ESPN and bolted- as I see it, she left us in the dust-- no ill will, but it is what it is

Puckjim - Twitter

Maiden - Living with Cam Barker

It's interesting that you, and you are a moderator here, seems to know the reason why each person is no longer on this site. You have a number of assumptions in there especially when I can tell you that some of those posters have personally told me otherwise. If we keep assuming things like this then we are going to continue losing quality posters. There are others that I did not name on purpose that fall into the realm of either being done with this site or just ghost and no longer post. Mule hit on a very specific area relating to women that some seem to have glossed over as well and Nana agreed with that post.

I started this thread to be a wake up call and to show some civlity to our fellow members. Being cautious to the words used and how they may be misinterepeted would be a great thing to be conscious of.

I believe in freedom of speech, but I also think speech does have consequences. It sucks we have lost a lot of good posters. I'm fine with disagreements, that's the whole point of debate and NHTA in general, though personal attacks piss me off I deal with them (though I can understand others for not doing so) just a side effect of NHTA I guess. Take the good with the bad. I don't want to see people leave, but also wouldn't want to see people banned for saying something offensive

At least to me it seems like IHN is not nearly as much fun as it used to be. The fun vibe on here is gone. And it seems like sometimes certain people get fairer treatment than others. So I can see IHF's point.

I'll bring you some bagged milk in November if you want.

OMG, yes! I just got back from fishing, and I loaded up on your candy. Besides Caramilks, I got Mr. Big, Eat More, and a whole slew of others, as well as some Tim Hortons Coffee and Hot chocolatw and Timbits. All of which I suspect will be gone in a few days.

you have a deal sir.

Also take me to a Binny's. I'm going to want a decent amount of Templeton since you can't get it anywhere else.

Are you gonna be able to get it back over the border? I will take you to Binnys, and we will get much beer.

Hell, maybe I can get the Miller clan to make you some.

I don't see why we couldn't? We are going to be there for a few days, and we have an amount of booze and tobacco we can legally cross with before paying tax.

There is a place in chicago proper called Bad Happy. They make "gourmet" poutine. Maybe we will hit that joint up.

No assumptions.

There are a few other reasons, and you and I know them. I have spoken to most of them in person as well.

As far as keeping this site one in which we all hand hold and sing folk songs, it's not going to happen. I like good conversations that show that two posters that can argue well without crossing a line, and most of the time we can see that limit. You and I have very different positions on many varying issues, but even though we may butt heads at times, it all comes down to that this is just a method to hold a conversation. There will never be hard feelings. Even with ebonyraptor-- we are day and night on issues, but at the end of the day it's just a group of us pecking at keys and hitting "post."

We have hundreds of personalities here, and I'm always down for suggestions, but it really has to be realistic.

Everyone has a limit on butt-hurt. We all have our buttons, and some people cannot cary on a conversation without blasting others to stroke their internet egos. Some here know how to handle themselves. I like to have a light hand on moderation, and let issues smooth themselves out. If I begin to see PMs from posters that person X is being a problem, then it needs to be discussed. Again, we do pay attention.

I would love to see everyone back and posting, but that's not going to happen. I'm also not going to beg anyone to come back. We're all adults here, and it's not up to me to have poster X to hold hands with poster Y.

There also seems to be a false sense of comraderie here. Again, obviously everyone's common ground here is the Hawks, that's what brought us together. However, everyone doesn't keep having to say that they "like" other people on the board. If you don't like people, that's totally fine and human. If everyone liked everyone that would be pretty weird and there would be world peace, etc. Do I think everyone likes me? Hell no!

It's not about liking or not liking, it's just about respect and not being total dicks. To be honest, a lot of the time I don't like people who have vastly different opinions on political and social issues than I do. We are not compatible people. Does that mean I'm going to treat them terribly? No.

I just think trying to reiterate or re-hash the idea that everyone get all lovey-dovey is a false, and ultimately failing notion. If people drop that and think about why they're posting what they're posting, and the way they're doing it, we'll all have a better time here.
