And some could ask for clarification rather than just blasting (assuming) right away.

That dog don't hunt.

The blasting was certainly not a causal factor rather the reaction to the silence following the repeated requests. But then some people have some other people on ignore so when the RFIs were posted, maybe those ignorers (year I just made that up) didn't see the request...maybe....

Heathen! Good day sir! I said, good day!

Fine, continuing using sandpaper and cardboard... a man's dingleberries are his own business.

Phranck still posts here plenty, just more in the entertainment section than NHTA.
This is true. I post all the time, but hardly in NHTA. The reason being that most of the arguments that ensue are circular in nature and become redundant. They accomplish little except to anger me the longer I read them. There's fundamental differences in persons belief systems that will not change via these arguments. What happens is that it leads to what is basically name calling and personal attacks. I don't see the need to contribute or to read most of this. I pop in every now and then but rarely post in NHTA. BTW, this wouldn't change if all the old posters were still here. It's the same reason I rarely get into politics on facebook.

Extremely poignant comment that I think is really lost on some people. Well said Frank.

Some of us don't have any issue with the circular arguments. IMHO these "personal attacks" or confrontational style of debate are not different than someone using the F-word as an adjective. Some people don't like it and even get offended by it, while others realize it is just a style of discourse and don't take it too seriously.

I am not necessarily pointing at you, but just something I notice on the Internet in general. The worst thing is thinking that attacking is a true form of conversation that moves the dialog along. It does not and it is just as ineffective as assuming what someone means (from some predisposition or otherwise), rather than trying to understand. Just helps with fostering circular conversation.

And, I will come out an say it, I am appalled at how many people on the interWebs claim to be open minded, but really use attack, re-direct, or ignore tactics to show how closed-mind they are.

I am though, curious...."who the posters are that are no longer here".

El Cid? With him I doubt it had anything to do with the topic.

Planzwrecker is another poster, dont know why he disappeared. But it was shortly after the site launched.

Mr. Miller never posted here much to begin with.

Kerfluffle got banned (although I personally didnt advocate it, I would have preferred it not so).

I am baffled as to who these posters are that "disappeared". I don't know, but posters leaving arent ringing a bell.

I am drawing a blank on anyone else.

I'd always assumed that Planz had gotten banned ..or taken out in a bar fight gone bad.

I don't think he got banned, I think there were a few people that bailed, because the site really wasn't super active when it launched, and I think some people went to Millers board, or the 300 level, or just stayed on the Oboards.

Graham didn't get banned, but if I recall he lost his mod status, because he was outright deleting threads simply because he didn't like the topic or if he didn't agree with an opinion. (I don't know if that is why, but I remember I Pm'ed BHP when it was happening, and other posters were also wondering where their threads are going.) and shortly after he no longer had mod status and disappeared. So I am putting 2 and 2 together.

I use curse words frequently. It doesn't mean I am mad, or that I am trying to offend someone else. I just have a potty mouth.

I only know of one poster who has been banned in my time as moderator, and he was already mentioned. If he had stayed, who knows how long this list "posters are no longer here" would probably be much much longer.

Nothing here offends me. Never has. It just feels like I'm often banging my head against the wall so I've just given up on posting in NHTA most of the time.
