So since the Yanks are already in Seattle tonight, does Ichiro get to suit up for NY? Or is he gonna have to pass physicals and all that other stuff?

I'd ask Google :D

Google would probably send me to Wikipedia. And Wikipedia would send me to Ichiro. And I probably wouldn't be able to understand him. Thus my question would remain unanswered.

Check the Seattle or Yankee beat writers and see what they say. Your guess is as good as mine for now.

Did it say the trade was pending physicals? Usually this is only required during off season trades, with minor leaguers, or if one of the teams suspects a possible injury issue. If the report didn't say the deal was pending a physical, then it probably doesn't.

To answer the question...Ichiro is in the Yankees lineup, batting 8th, and is currently 1-for-2.

Glad to see a mutual, ameciable split in Seattle, what a career he has had, wish him the worst of luck in New York though

lol, wtf Brewers.

The Brewers' ideal scenario is to trade third baseman Aramis Ramirez to the Dodgers in exchange for pitching prospect Zach Lee and then deal Greinke to the Rangers for third base prospect Mike Olt, reports Jim Bowden of SiriusXM ESPN radio (via Twitter). Bowden adds that such a sequence of moves is unlikely, however.

Unlikely? Yeah, I'd say so... since both of those guys are about as untouchable as they get. I'm sure the Rangers would be willing to move Olt, but the haul would be almost unbearable for the other team to match.

Random observation...

Only three of the teams in the AL are under .500, whereas half the teams in the NL are under .500...maybe a quirk due to the beatdown in interleague, unbalanced schedules, KC and Minnesota sucking that bad, etc...

Cole Hamels got 6 years/144 million. The price of starting pitching is going way, way up. Also that takes the big prize off the market. Greinke, Garza, Liriano are the only guys that seem definitively on the market right now. Shields or Johnson might be out there, but that flood of pitchers being out there is thinning pretty early before the deadline.

Obviously Hamels is better than Garza but is if Hamels is now worth 24/yr I don't think Garza's 5/80 is all that crazy

To be honest I thought it was a steal at the time. This was what the new CBA was trying to do by capping amateur spending. It is forcing the cost of major league talent to go way up, and the price of pitching was trending up prior to that.
